It will be nice if we could get involved to instead of standing around like a lazy chop eating bacon and egg rolls (which were tasty, thanks Mike for acting like you were cooking).

I volunteer to help with painting

Agree 100% and like I said, had Grant come through as planned we would have had more than enough work to keep us busy.

The next trip will be focused solely on sorting out the boys room, which will need plenty manpower

lawrence wrote:So I have updated the main thread with the goings on from last weekend. http://www.vwclub.co.za/phpbb3/posting. ... 5&t=147816

Going forward we need to act very quickly on the following:

1. ScottiesKJ - when will you be able to install the built-in cupboards in the boys room? Let's pick a date and set up another 'tour of duty' at the home so we can get the boys room sorted.

2. Kingdubber, please can you get us some quotes for a)breeze blocks to create some airflow in the room and b) an extractor fan. Also let us know what help will be needed on the day to complete the job

3. Raymond, is there any additional work you still need to do to finish off the kitchen?
Link - http://www.vwclub.co.za/phpbb3/viewtopi ... 5&t=147816 Pleasure

I will chat to my chief builder and see when he is free to come do this. We also Need to confirm with Naomi when suits her and the home.

What are we doing in terms of painting this room? Our paint Sponsor dropped us a bit on this and that room needs a paint before the cupboards
go in.

Lemme know when you can get there and I will chat with Naomi to confirm it is all good with her.

We will need to buy paint from the money we raised.

I do not want to paint until Grant (Kingdubber) lets us know about the breeze blocks and extractor fan. The thinking being that in order to create some airflow in the room we can knock out a couple of holes, fit some breeze blocks and a small extractor fan, re-plaster and then paint - this will not require any building plans etc etc.....

Cool. What may be an idea seeing as we doing quite a bit is to do a 2 day job. Sat roll in Throw Mitch at the wall  put the breeze blocks in create all the dust and what not. Plaster and paint where the cupboards will be going and do all our prep work. Sunday roll in and get klaar and done. Plaster will be dry and guys can paint and get done....

just an idea. use it don't use it

Sorry I couldn't be much help towards this project. Its a bit hectic trying to sort out stuff for my wedding, working and studying for my exams. @Lawrence, just a reminder that I still have the money (R400) from my dad and myself for this project. Maybe it can be used toward the buying of paint or something.

Excellent news Raymond.

He does not need to be a paid up member to join the run.

Just add his name to the list so we can keep track of how many people and cars are coming so the restaurant is prepared for us,

thanks

We sell Franke Sinks. Boss reckons he can do cost price which is R723.33 incl Vat for Franke 316 Grade Stainless
or
we can probably get a cheap 306 Grade Stainless one from E-mart or something.
Some help would be good.

My fitter guy is available on the 04 May. Can we organize for that date to finish the installation?

A quick update

Raymond will be going around to the home on Sunday to complete the installation of the kitchen - well done bud! :hurray:

Then, the 'mother' of the home just called to advise that someone else has already come forward and confirmed that they will be installing the built in cupboards in the boys room so we do not need to do that. What we do need to do though is decide how best to put the remainder of the money we raised to good use in the home and so we need to give it some thought and engage with the home on this. My thoughts are around getting some decent air flowing through that room and trying to mitigate the enormous heat build up in there over the summer months in particular.

Lastly, the amount of heartfelt gratitude she expressed over the phone now bought a lump to my throat. All the kids in the home (and the 'mother') are truly grateful for what we have done so far, and so in my personal capacity I want to thank each and every one of you who has contributed. The world needs more people like you.....

Not going Sunday. I'm going on Saturday so I can still attend the breakfast run.

Since you have a bit of spare cash, Lawrence. I need to purchase a sink for the kitchen.

Please advise.
