2012 Vivo Radio
Hi, can someone give me advice. The factory radio on the Vivo, does it have RCA output if u want to install a Amp/Monoblock?. If not, can u change it so that there is a RCA output, or is the best to replace the head unit.. Also someone out there that tried to fit a slim woofer under the front seats, was thinking of trying that, very small space. Maybe a 8" or 10" slim woofer(know u get the active woofers also).

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
Which head unit is it?
It will most likely have just amplified speaker level outputs.
Find a sub that takes speaker level inputs and that will turn on based on audio signal. I'm sure most compact under-seat subs will have a high level input so you can do away with needing a remote turn-on wire.
I looked for line-out converters, but I recall these headunits do not have a remote turn-on wire and there's nothing that can determine that off the CAN bus.
I installed a Pioneer TS-WX70DA in the boot this way. Bought a connector harness from the local car audio shop, spliced the speaker wires to run to the sub and wired the power to the fuse box under the dashboard. It's just a 100W sub so no need for massive power cables running through firewall.

This was useful when I was looking:
https://pinoutguide.com/Car-Stereo-Volkswagen-Porsche/
Actually pull the headunit and see what model it is. That google search brings up all sorts of stuff.

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
Doubt that is going to have any pre-outs/RCA.
Why not ditch it and get an aftermarket single-DIN headunit that has pre-outs/RCA? I know it's another expense, but later down the line you will be ready to add an amp.
This kinda looks nice:

But there are others for less.
Best thing I did in my citi was swap out the stock headunit for a Kenwood and then did front speakers.
Worth it just for being able to tweak the audio settings.

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
Dont think there is any RCA on the back of that HU. Its a pretty basic radio, limited expansion options IIRC.

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
Buy a set of radio removal tools.
Or ask your local car audio shop to pop it out for you.
Or cut up a old credit card and make some keys:

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
You get a high to low level converter with built in signal sensing that will turn the amp on or off. Bought one when we put a sub and amp in my son's 2010 fiesta. Ordered it from Rivonia car sound and the model number was CTL200.2226cc wrote:Which head unit is it?

Re: 2012 Vivo Radio
Today must be Line-Out converter day.
First on reddit, then on a polo forum, and now on VW club.
Was introduced to the Kicker keyLOC today. Very nice LOC by the looks of it. Contains a DSP too for tuning out some factory EQ issues. R2.5K though.
