need assistance :bang:
Hi guys
I'm Brix and I'm new to the club. I'm a polo vivo hatchback owner and I'm planning on customizing my own boot as these so called sound guys don't get the idea of a custom install. I got 2 XTC BIG DADDY 8 INCH SUBS 10,000w each and I'm farely new to the sound game so I don't have a clue of how big the box and ports(if any) should be.I would like to have excess to my spare if possible, if not then the spare must come out but the 2 subs must somehow fit in the boot. Any ideas and or measurements would be apreciated

Re: need assistance :bang:
Enclosure sizes should be included in the sub specs on the box or a booklet in the box.
Those specs should include minimum and maximum sizes in litres and/or square feet for sealed and ported enclosures.
Those specs are pretty important because a sub is designed to work properly in a specific sized enclosure. Without going into technical details like Thiel Small parameters, Qes specs, Qts specs, and so on, an enclosure that is too small and it will sound crap and not work properly, same for an enclosure that is too large.
You also risk making the magic smoke come out of the subs by going too small or too large on an enclosure.
Also, do you want loud and noisy, or sound quality?
Loud and noisy is easy, SQ is not.
I have seen a few setups with two 8 inch subs in sealed enclosures in hatchbacks where two enclosures were made (one on each side of the boot - made with fibreglass), and almost the whole boot space was still usable and spare wheel was accessable with no issues.
Sealed are generally always smaller than ported enclosures, depends on the sub specs.
If you are new to the game and you want to tackle it yourself, good for you and welcome to the world of never ending learning.
It is a very very steep learning curve and there is not one way of doing things properly, there are hundreds.

Re: need assistance :bang:
Bud just some advice....is your electrical system up to the task? Those subs have thick ass voice coils which need a fair bit of power to help them perform as intended. Also, they require larger than normal enclosures in a musical setup. If i were you,I'd use one in a properly built enclosure(VERY VERY important factor which is often overlooked).
I'd sell the other one and invest in some electrical system upgrades.

Re: need assistance :bang:
Cap is useless in this application.
Look at the targa tx115 or tx135 or even an optima yellowtop.Starving your amp will destroy it and your sub.
I'd also suggest using either welding cable or OFC cabling.

Re: need assistance :bang:
Do abit of research on popular installers in your area. It's better to pay for a quality install then to blow your money on equipment and have it installed by backyard baboo.
That way,you know everything is protected and it will sound the way it should. They will do all the calculations required for the enclosure aswell as give you an idea of how much strain your electrical system can take.
