Re: Diy sound upgrade
Post moved to the correct section.
In response to your post I've personally never heard of soundigital.
Keep in mind any sound install will only sound as good as its been installed.
Lets start with what your budget is and what result you're looking for?
Are you looking for a pavement pounder, spl machine, sq, or are you just wanting a good sounding system?
Once you have those guidelines can you determine what route it is you're going to need to take.

Re: Diy sound upgrade
You have good brands but you will need to get a good installer to have the items sounding good. A good sound install is only as good as the amount of time spent on it. It takes alot of tuning to get it to the quality of sound you after. In what car you want this install as that too has a role to play tk play with the output.

Rather go for Rockford fosgate or lightening audio. I'm in cape Town and got an install done by SID customs. Unbelievable workmanship and the sound is exactly what I wanted

Re: Diy sound upgrade
Don't buy second-hand sound.. it wont last you.. you also dont have to spend 8k for a clear sound system.. I currently have 4 Pioneer 6 inch door speakers, a set of Sony 6x9s and a targa baby street sub in a ported box .. 6x9s and sub connected to 4 ch 4000w star sound amp and it's blasting 100s.. it is however causing some of the dash bits to rattle which is why I never went bigger than this.. for a system just like this you'll pay around 4k.. if it's even that much. I would recommend Pioneer 6x9s instead if you do want to put those.. the Sony ones are not as clear as the pioneers are. I'm running this stuff with a 60w x 4 Sansui deck..

Re: Diy sound upgrade
A small budget doesnt necesaarilly mean a bad install. I am currently running a targa baby street 12" 2 targa 6 x9 2 targa 5" mids and 4 targa super tweeters running off a starsound ko 4 channel and starsound block all with targa 4 gauge wiring and a audiobank pre-amp with a cheap digital star media player. Am satisfied with my cheap DIY sound for now. Sounds good for the money spent

Re: Diy sound upgrade
Anyway back to the guy that needed help....i see you have a budget of 8k and want good quality sound...please stay far away from 6x9s... look for a good set of 6inch component speakers.jbl kicker infinity something along those lines...sub wise a 10inch will do .again stick with decent brands...targa starsound ice power make noise yes but not quality noise lol..amp wise a decent 4ch with atleast 75w rms at 4ohm should do...dont look at max power and pmpo ...im assuming you would be using the stock radio in the polo...thats fine...but if you wanted to go aftermarket..go with kenwood alpine pioneer sony. Your radio needs to be decent...no use having top equipment but using a jensen, dixion, starsound radio as source..will sound terrible...but hey its just my 2cents....il rather do my sound in stages if i cannot afford decent equipment at once ,than pay school fees..

Re: Diy sound upgrade
Expesive dont always mean very good.
I cant maybe coment on herts focal audicon ext . but heard rockford and a alot of cheap.
rockford 2 10s in a golf 4 really suprised me on the quality(Im not talking noise levels ) even at softer levels the bass quality was brilliant.
Then i 1nc heard a gets in durbs(Obvoius durbs guys no) The guys was running yellow top battery , sony 7inch slide out deck, Front Sony Mids, Back doors sony mids, Back Boot rack 2 sony mids, the guy had a Pre amp equalizer, 4 Pioneer Super Tweeter the muffins as its also known. I think it was a sony amp to run mids and tweeters, and a Targa tg18d the first 1s with airholes on the black cover with 2 (i think) XTC TXR Series 12 inch subs the 1s that had USA stamped on them(These guys said that it was original XTC not the knockoffs of later models.
I can tell you i have almost never heard sound so clear sounding and the base so good that i could NOT even hear the boot lid rattle. clear base no rattles no distorsions etc.
PS If the guy knows how to install it also makes a world of difference.
Where have calibra gone and MA Audio? I used to see them at sound competition events in cars at tarlton , it was banging. now no 1 has it anymore. Looks like ice , targa starsound took over everything.
What i would like to know from the gurus.
The guy asking for help wants to buy second hand sub and mids , IS THIS WISE.
From what i think a sub and speakers are not good second hand but at least a amp can be bought second hand a long as it was not tempered with or opened up? is my thinking correct.
Cheers
