Polo 6R - Bluetooth Module RCD210

Post by jimbo »

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2011 Polo 1.4 Comfortline with the RCD210 factory radio.
I would like to install the OEM Bluetooth module to allow calls via the headunit and steering wheel controls.
Any idea where one can get this module and have it installed? (VW quoted R4200)

Thanks!

I'd try senna and Taffy on the forum, otherwise I got mine, and some other stuff from carsystems.pl

Hey - I was looking to do the EXACT same thing a while back.

Very very long story short here is what I ended up doing. (I have a polo C/L 2010 6R)

================================================================================

The bluetooth module will work with the RCD 210 - but you will* be able to stream music, it wont work with your steering wheel, it wont integrate with your cluster, you will need the microphone too - so essentially you are paying R4200 for a glorified bluetooth speaker.

I am currently in the process of taking out the RCD 210 in place for a RCD 510 - this way I can get bluetooth (should I want to fork out the R4200 for the module and microphone), but I WILL get SD card functionality, 6 CD stacking player, touch screen, USB (at a very small added cost - if you want it done right - you will need to get the socket if you dont want a dangling cable, and the wire harness for the socket), Aux, and all of it will work with the steering wheel, just not the cluster.

My suggestion to you - remove the RCD 210 as I have, and replace it with an RCS 315 or RCD 410 and above.

I will be making a DIY tutorial on how to swap the RCD 210 in the future.

PM me if you need more info.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, I was beginning to wonder if the Bluetooth module was worth all the effort (and money)
I think the more worthwhile route is to go with the RCD510 once I have the available funds...

Will be looking out for your video in the future!

I'm in the same boat currently. Sitting with the 210, aux cable in the phone.
I actually don't mind it too much, as Waze alerts also comes through there, but i would like the option of USB/SD.

I did not think of it at the time, it was pretty straight forward on my Mk6, used a trim tool to remove the radio surround, four torx screws and it slides out. drop the lever on the quad lock connector on the back, and clip for antennae plug. Swap radio and redo everything. New radio asked for code on first boot. I started with an RCD310 so it was the same size.
Think it's slightly more complicated on a mk5 but not by much.

Hi, did you make this tutorial? I'm looking to swop a RCD 210 to a RCD 510 and add bluetooth.
