Suggested sound for 9n polo

Post by herco »

Hello gents!

I am collecting a 2008 1.6 polo tomorrow. I know I am going to change the sound asap.

I have a plan, but need some advice...

This is what I have in mind:

- HU = Pioneer bluetooth unit with 2 RCA pre-outs.
http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-audio/ca ... oader.html

- Front splits = Hertz DSK165 system.
http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-audio/sp ... ystem.html
(I will install the tweeters on the pillars or just above the door panel on the little 'A' shaped plastic piece by the side mirrors)
(Im a little skeptical if the mids will fit on the standard door panel, I really hope so because I want the car to look as oem as possible on the interior.)

- Sub = Infinity 12 Shallow mount.
http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-audio/ca ... oofer.html
(I will be making a custom mdf integrated enclosure for the left side of the boot)

However, I do not know what amp config to do...

Can I run the splits and the sub from a single amp under the passenger front seat?
If so, which amp would be best for this? I'm thinking a bridgeable 4 channel amp? 2 channels for front left and right and 2 channels bridged for the sub?

I am planning to mount the amp under the front passenger seat.
edit: Decided it will be better to mount it in the rear with the sub box...

Maybe something like this?

I would appreciate any suggestions or advice!

Thanks for the heads up on the amp.

The splits and amp should be enough for a polo? I don't listen to my music too loud. Just want clear sound with deep bass.

Will check out the kicker range amps as well.

Yup. That splits and sub will be sufficient if you not into that crazy bass.

I would recommend you deaden the front doors with a layer of STP or the likes. Also check wooden spacer for the splits. They should fit and you will retain the OEM look.

Mount the amp on the rear seat and not on the sub box.

Good luck, it fairly an easy car to work on.

Nice sounding splits ,You will definitely need MDF spacers to clear the door glass, Don't go too extreme ,make the spacers big enough so that you just clear the glass by couple mm or else you won't have any clearance between your door card and speaker. You might have to modify your door cards.

Just started thinking about changing the sound on my 2007 9n3.

Curious: would I be able to install my head unit, sub and amp and run it with the standard door speakers or am I reaching here?

I am using my original mids and tweeters on my polo but I did not amplify them, its loud and clear with no distortion from a pioneer head unit.

When i bought the car, the lhs mid was faulty so i replaced the front mids with pioneer, but the rear mids and tweeters on the panels are still original and sounds great

Mount amp in the boot. If you use a 4 channel in bridge for the sub then you will need a svc sub not DVC.
