Audi A3 Sedan - Upgrading speakers
Hey guys
I would be asking the guys on the Audi forum but haven't received any activation email since I joined about 2 years ago.
Does anyone have any experience with installing sound inside an A3 Sedan (8VS)?
I am keen to replace front split system which I don't really know the size of, I am hoping its 6" - I am assuming I need to install spacers for the mids as well. Please can someone advise component sized used?
Currently have a Rockford 4.6x 4ch amp and a Boston rally 10" sub I used in my Polo Sportline, these will be used in the Audi as well. Going for SQ over SPL.
I want to just run a simple hi-lo converter for now for the front stage and subwoofer channels.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Audi A3 Sedan - Upgrading speakers
The s3 should be 6 inch mids. Usually 2 16mm rings do the trick but that will only be known when you remove the doorcard. Maybe try and find some pics of the stock speakers and estimate from there.
Also maybe just be weary of warranty issues from cutting wires though.

Been trying to find info for a while, nada.
Will be a stealth install so I am not too bothered about warranty. Either way they can only moan about the sound system warranty.

Re: Audi A3 Sedan - Upgrading speakers
they use the same MQB platform as Golf, and share the same MIB infotainment system platform, so could have the same speakers in the doors. If they do, Gladen and Focal make direct replacements which are pretty decent (I have the Focals in my Golf). Having said that though, some of the Audi's have 3-way splits in the front doors with passive cross-overs like I've seen in some MKV GTI's. Not sure if this helps in any way, but good luck with the build.

As Beeno said, I would go with a direct replacement kit from Focal or the like and if you want to fine tune for better sound quality, add a signal processor. Something from Rockford or Audison.

So right now I'm just have to get the front splits. Got the rest.
But I think install will only happen in January. Almost holiday time

Re: Audi A3 Sedan - Upgrading speakers
Managed to get my car done yesterday, have to say that it sounds way better than the standard setup - even without the subwoofer on.
Was a pretty complicated install because of the head unit and the tweeters in the pillars right under the airbags. Took a good few hours to do these few things but its sorted now so I am very happy with the results.
Everything was done by Razeen from Eklipse Auto exactly the way I would have done it ... if I had the space.
First off was the door panels, as well as sticking on the sound deadening.
Next came out the head unit - find attached the details of the harness pin allocations:
Installing the high-low converter as well as the wiring for the crossovers (easy access if I need to change anything like tweeter attenuation). None of the wires were cut, just stripped and joined.
Mids installed in place of the OEM 8 inches.
Lastly the tweeter pods. This was the pain in the a**. Ended up getting filthy, but managed to clean it up today.
So since it was a stealth install, no real need to take photos of the completed job. I thought this would be a good reference for the guys wanting to upgrade their A3 8V installs.

@prajay & @Life160
Where does Razeen work these days? Seems like he knows what he is doing and I am also keen on upgrading the sound in my A3 8V.
Above was mentioned Eklipse Auto, but I can't seem to find that place...
