Polo Sound
So after a lot of deliberation I have blown the budget by about 300% and this is currently in the boot:
I am busy building a box for the sub and will post some pictures as I go along.
Let the fun begin!
Will add another set of splits/coaxials later if required...

Re: Polo Sound
Ha ha ha, I see you got the monoblock too.
Pgti, might not have heard of Focal because they do products that are in a league above the mainstream products. You don't often hear of many others like, audison, hertz, morel or rainbow. But they are very good indeed.
Stefan, email me the parameters for the sub and I will see what's a nice enclosure for you. Sorry, I forgot to offer before.

Evil stuff, I told you!
I went back this morning to get the Solid 1 to match the Solid 4 and yes they were sold out and are now discontinued. So I like stuff to match up and told him to stick together a deal. Walked out with the FPP4100 and FPP1000.
Now I need the wiring and then I am done for now!
Will send you a mail shortly...

Re: Polo Sound
Focal is quite high end stuff, like Hertz, high quality audio experience compared to the normal boom boom.

Re: Polo Sound
Got some more work done last night. Sub box just about complete:
The box will be located on the left side of the boot, that way I can still get to the spare and still have some boot space. The amplifiers will be mounted on the righthand side.
Picture with the "side" on, need to still cut out the circle but will do that tonight. I have a nice little tool for that...
I have also learnt a few things about cutting with a jigsaw! Take your time!!

Using a Dremel to cut out the circles. MUCH easier than using a jigsaw or a router. And I am **** scared of routers!!
Mounting the box to the boot:
As you can see I "bolt" it onto the hooks in the boot, so no drilling or anything
Test fitted in the boot
Last section to be made tonight to finish the flat section on top of the box, which will strech to the edges of the boot and then carpeting the whole thing.

Re: Polo Sound
Made the top section for the box last night and it came out nice if I have to say so myself...
Took out the fire extinguisher bracket and fit an L-bracket in its place which lines up perfectly. So the little cut in the carpet for the L-bracket is the first permanent change I made to the car...
So tonight I will cut the hole for the terminal block but I might not use it coz it looks a bit flimsy. Anyone know where I can get a proper one?

Re: Polo Sound
Got a few things done over the weekend...
Started on the board to mount the amplifiers, lots of work left as they will be recessed. They are quite "thick" (about 60mm) so I'll need about 4 layers of 16mm MDF. So little bits in between the amplifiers and then one flat piece to cover the lot.
Then drilled the holes and test fitted the sub.
Turned the box into a birdhouse...
The hole is for the terminal connector, as I said before I am still looking for some decent banana plugs and sockets. If anybody know where I can get please shout!!
I've put the terminal connector at the front of the box, so I just have to fold the seat forward to unplug the sub. Quick and easy access.
Then I got busy cutting the speaker rings for the splits, at first I wasted a lot of time glueing squares together only to find that the dremel isn't happy cutting through 32mm of MDF. So I cut one ring at a time...
One done, three to go.
Done with all 4...
So tonight I will glue the rings and carry on with the amplifier board.
If anyone requires speaker rings send me the dimensions and I'll see if I can help. Have quite a bit of MDF lying around... Payment? Whisky...

I haven't done too much in the last couple of days but I have covered the sub box and will mount that tonight.
Must still cut out the section to mount the sub.
Contact adhesive is good...

Re: Polo Sound
Just about completed the subbox last night... Sub fitted, now just to mount it in the car... Permanently!!
So tonight I'll carry on with the Amplifier setup! Wife and kids are away on holiday for 2 weeks so I'll have a lot more time on my hands.
Rodga the wiring kit was expensive... R1800 and I had to get an extra RCA and I'll need to get more speaker wire.
But I am sure you can make it up cheaper if you buy want you need seperately. Look for Cell sound in Centurion! Their pricing is reasonable. Plus I am only going to use one of the power distribution blocks. And the 4AWG earth cable will also not be used.
More tomorrow!
