Post by tjmaleka@gmail.com »

I drive a 1998 citi golf chico 1.3 which currently runs on a 2.0 engine. I bought the car last year October from a friend.
U
I need advice on which brake discs and pads are best suited for a car that powerful. The current brake discs are solid. This past sunday I was driving and when i tried to brake the car shakes a bit. And there also a knocking sound coming from the drivers front wheel.

Please help. Thanking you in advance for your input.

Your discs sounds warped .no ways will your current brakes be able to cope, considering you still on the stock 239mm solid disc setup

Your options is as follows - Listed from the cheapest.
1. 239mm Ventilated Disc with matching pads for ventilated disc - This install is take off, install new - These are also available in slotted/drilled
2. 256mm setup - More involved , will need to source some not too common parts
3. 288mm Big upgrade Disc/Pads and bracket with racing pads from GW Delarey - Rim will need to check for Caliper clearance

Rear:
Stock drum is adequate cause most braking happens in front, Getting the rear disc setup will be a bonus.

Stick to the tried and tested know brands especially when it comes to the pads as they play a huge role IMHO
