This fee is ridiculous. Just another way for dealers to squeeze more money from us. Imagine going to checkers and they start charging a "in the trolley" fee. But let's not stop there, why not add a shelf packing fee, a bag packing fee and a till service fee... Cos **** knows these things won't pay for themselves.

I understand the frustration but....

It is the same as the roadworthy or 80 point check of a vehicle. The vehicle needs to be pre inspected before we deliver it .

These cars that I am advertising here are at dead cost. If I do not add the fees the deal goes into a negative , which makes no business sense.

At the same time if I do a deal at full retail , I do not charge on the road fees because i have money in the deal which can cover the expenses for the car.

As much as eveyone might think that we are robbing ppl. That is not the case,

At the end of the day it's a business and for everything that we do on a car we are charged for, if there is no profit we need to cover the additional expenses.

Hope that gives more clarity.

The above prices include the OTR fees.

But if you are referring to the deals advertised on TV and radio. I agree with that , because clients come in expecting a car to be paying R2999pm but then it goes that. It's a problem on our side, because the OTR fees and extras are not declared. But on that there is nothing I can do.

But going forward anything I advertise on the forum , I will include it

I forgot I had posted in here...

I understand some of the charges like licencing and plates, etc. as this has to be done on any new car, can only be done at the time of sale and costs may vary from region to region. Sure, a buyer could do much of it themselves for cheaper but some don't want the bother and will simply pay the premium of having the dealership take care of it...

The above is what I don't understand and believe that this cost should be included in the purchase price of the car from the start. Listing this as an additional costs insinuates that a buyer does have the option of not taking the additional service which is simply not the case. For instance, when you go buy an appliance, the price is the price, you don't get to the till and suddenly have some inspection charge lumped on top of the purchase price...

This ^. If the "additional" crap is non-negotiable then add it on the price advertised.
