Golf for newbie

Post by Codger »

After endless trouble and massive costs with my Audi A6, I am looking for an automatic 2.0Tdi Golf VI.
In 3 months of internet and local dealer searching, I have not seen a single one advertised.
Were they aver sold in South Africa?
Tks

They are tough to find, I was looking for months and could never find one with low enough mileage and leather interior at the time, that is why we ended up buying the Tiguan 2.0 TDi DSG 4mot Highline

More common to find them with Audi A3 badges on than with VW ones.

Still a scarce car.

Thanks for the replies.
It seems strange that I can see 2010/11/12 2 litre Tdi automatic Amarok, Caddy, CC, Passat, Kombi, Passat, Tiguan, Touran for sale; but the only diesel Golfs are 1.6.
I want a Mk 6 because: CR diesel, no touchscreen, 15 inch wheels (more comfort, less cost) and (to me) it just looks nicer than mk 7.
If someone can confirm for sure that they were sold, I will keep looking for a Mk 6 2.0Tdi automatic. If they were never sold, I can give up and start looking for a Mk 7.
By the way, I am in Port Elizabeth.

Best would be to phone a VW dealer to get the sales figures or the model brochure for the Mk6.

Seems you looking for something that might not even exist. I think the 2.0Tdi's was only available in Manual. Might be wrong, but a dealer worth their salt will be able to confirm this.

Found this:

Seems there was no DSG version of the 2.0, only manual.
1.6Tdi was available with DSG

The answer I got from the local dealer was so vague as to be not worth a pinch of salt.
They were made: there are 71 DSG 2.0 Tdis from 2010 to 2012 on Autotrader UK, today.
I am almost convinced amstel18 is right that they were not sold in South Africa.

A velo is a Citi. Don't be a stoopid.

Also it's rude to hijack another person's thread. If you want to as dumb questions start your own thread.
