Egr value faulty

Good day gentlemens
Kindly please help me I have a Polo 1.2 bluemotion 2012 model, last month I did diagnose then I was told egt sensor and I paid 7k for that now they did diagnose again I was told it's egr value faulty and car has no pwer worse part black smoke, now my mechanic says he can try to clean egr and cooler which is another money. Egr value is very costly so any advice that can be reasonable I'm in Cape Town. Thanks in advance, Bonga

What was the error codes, the first time you scan?

Best thing you can do for the car is to delete both EGR and DPF and have it coded out.
I did it on my Bluemotion 3 days after I got it. Also had the car carbon flushed. Do it, you wont regret the money spent.

Unfortunately I dont know of any places in Cape Town as I am in Gauteng.

Ask for recommendations in Cape Town via Facebook on the "VW Polo owners RSA" page.
You will get much quicker answers there.
