Good day to all members
I need assistance with a 2005 citi golf new spec dash
Im having problems with my heat gauge were the needle flactuates sometimes going into the red but the car is not overheating . It normally does this if the car is idling or in traffic however once i accelerate the car goes back to the middle.
I have changed the expansion tank , thermostat, 4 pin temp switch and fan switch
all advise will be appreciated
Thank you

Re: New member
Ha I had this problem just recently. Check the part number on the temperature gauge sensor that is currently in the car.

Re: New member
Sounds like an electrical problem then. Could be tied to the alternator maybe or voltage regulation as the alternator does not speed up when the car is at idle.Duran280493 wrote:yes it does budtheunis.visser wrote:Stupid question: does the fan come on when stationary?Duran280493 wrote:Reason why i say its not overheating coz when i drive the heat gauge sits dead centre and theres no boilingtheunis.visser wrote:Duran280493 how so you know it is not overheating? Re: New member
I ask this because the oil pressure sensor on one of the polos looks about the same and fits perfectly (mine had just about the exact same symptoms as yours). If I'm correct it's number ends in a 503 while the correct sensors part number ends in 502.Juan the dealer wrote:Ha I had this problem just recently.
