Yes, when applicable, but you forgot the following classes:
So, no, not really..?!
It is only really a Show n' Shine and Treasure Hunt where we don't run these classes, but if you want to be pedantic, then no

Nope, didn't forget at all. I run a 2E so clearly it's a VW, and if I was to participate I'd look at membership.
So,
I'm running a stock 2E (1985cc?) at the moment. Where would that fit in?
Well, I didn't know you would join, so then you would fit in the A class which is for 2.0l and above as the B class is up to, but not including 2.0l Hope that clears it up...

What are the other regs for your events?
Do you at least do safety scruteneering, and are helmets compulsory?
We do basic safety scrutinising - tyres, battery, leaks, etc, etc and helmets are not compulsory for a gymkhana event...
DarkRanger wrote:Let's see. 1985cc < 2.0L Which means B class.
Titleists wrote:What's the use of the classes if a 1985cc engine is considered a 2000cc engine?
Then you might as well say a 1685cc engine is a 1700cc and a TDI is part of the forced induction class.
Gents - We use the generally accepted size of an engine to guide allocation to classes, and this is often done on what the owener specifies on their entry form and is very difficult to check, especially with "frakenstein" motors, so we rely on honesty for the most part as we obviously can't always verify the size of an engine. So we take 1.3 and 1.4's as class C, same with 1.6's and then 1.8's in class B and 2.0's in class A...
So yes there is teh opportunity for someone to lie and cheat the system, it is not fool proof, but seriously, if a trophy at a club event means that much to you that you need to put your 2.0 in Class C, then you need more help than just a trophy...

It has proved to be difficult to get a clear and straight answer on a simple question. Vague and cocky answers don't help. I was considering taking part in some events this year and coming from a racing background (cars and bikes) it's natural for me to want to know ahead of time exactly where I would slot in and therefore prep the car to be in a specific class and do mods which won't bounce me out of the class during the year.
Seems Neuk's got his pink panties in a twist this morning!
Please come along and compete, it's always great to have some pro-competition, and there are several very serious competitors at gymkhanas.
As Neuk mentioned tho, the class definitions are nearly impossibly to enforce. We don't know if someone's running a stroker kit or a machined crank to increace capacity. We rely on honest competitors. I think our class definitions are fair, are engine capacities are on a 'close enough' basis. You're only 15cc's off a 2.0l, which is less than a shot-glass. So yes, you'd definitely be in class A. Someone with a 1945cc engine may be a different story, but I'm not sure of any manufacturer's making anything that size, so perhaps then a stroked 1800? But that's well within class B.
Most drag events have a cyl-number classing system, but as a VWClub, we're 95% 4cyls. So then everyone's competing against eachother. We've tried to split stuff up so it's competitive in classes. Please don't make it impossible for us to have fun by nit-picking every details (and this is a global plea, not just aimed at one person...)
If we had prize money like R10k per class, sure, then that's a different thing, but if you need to complain about a plastic trophy, let us know, and we'll have one made up specially for you. Something like 'whiner of the day award' ...

But thanks for your clarification.
There must be some misunderstanding - Where am I vague and cocky?
You asked and based on the fact that you are not a club member I stated that you would fit in the O class where all non-club members are classed. You then stated that you would join the club, to which I replied that you would be in the A class as you have a 2E engine...
Sorry if I came across as cocky, it is sometimes hard to convey things from behind a keyboard

Yep, we welcome anyone and everyone running whatever you got

Yep, and things tend to even themselves out over different events
Not rocket science is it? Or am I missing something?
Your answer was a bit vague, as in it didn't answer my question, there were also contradicting answers from other people...
I've been around for a while, participating in VWClub events as far back as the early 90's, I was around in the days when Stephan built his red Mk2 turbo golf, but haven't been to your events in a long time and was just looking for some info...
Damn, why do there have to be so many handbag-swinging-panty-wearers on some forums...?!?

He He - Sorry man, get's confusing with all these guys answering the same question I hope we have cleared it up for you, but if not, PM me and we can clear it up Anyway, it is always great to have the "older" membrs wanting to get involved in the club, we have much to learn from you guys...

Thanks for that.
That answer was not in the least cocky or arrogant or whatever. If you actually made the effort to read, you would notice that I was wrong too. Meaning I DID miss something. Sorry if I offended you for not being a rocket scientist. I'm not a rocket scientist either. So you can relax. Calling me a fool because I tried to clear something up, is pretty low down. What you don't know is I was ALSO unclear on this and PM'ed neuk right at the beginning.
Seriously I think the only

in this thread is you. Relax man. If someone says something, don't take it so serious. <- this should have given the bit of humour away in my reply.

Just look out for a place where 16 year old girls have 3 children (inbred), Everyone drives pimped Ford Escorts and the dogs are scared of the children
The Rock Raceway,
18 Main Reef Road, Brakpan.
Johannesburg
Directions(Di "rock" tions)
Getting to The Rock is pretty easy no matter where you are coming from! Yes it's in "The Pan" but it's only a 35min hop from Sandton. (Unless Tim "V12" Stephens is driving in which case its only 10mins!)
You need to get onto the N3 if you are coming from the north or south. When you happen upon GILLOOLYʼS interchange, you want to follow the signs for the N12 WITBANK. This is the same junction as if you were headed to the airport.
From PRETORIA, it is quicker to take the R24, cut through BENONI and then hang LEFT onto SNAKE ROAD.
If you live in the East Rand, get yourself onto the N12.
Once you are on the N12, you head straight till you get to "SNAKE ROAD".
When you are on SNAKE ROAD (turn RIGHT when you come off the highway), you will be looking out for MAIN REEF ROAD. At the fifth set of traffic lights hang a LEFT onto MAIN REEF ROAD move over to right hand lane travel straight for +- 3km.
You will go under a bridge and then you want to look out for The Rock on the left.
Easy!
hey ppl please just double check the gps co-ordinates last time they took us to an open field and not just me there where a couple of ppl that ended up in the middle of nowhere

As has been mentioned, those are their supplied GPS co-ordinates, not teh VWCSA's, so we can take no responsibility...
When we next go there, we will confirm what the GPS co-ordinates are...
