Dyno Day
I visited the Ford ST club dyno day at Jedi Motorsport on Saturday, and would like to propose to the organisers of this dyno day to consider the following, if it has not already been adressed:
A good idea might be to have a system (PA, screen etc) to make the results and other interesting info available to everybody who came to watch / participate. As an example: Golf V GTi, Chipped & Exhaust, 95 octane, 180kw / 320 NM etc, then everybody knows.
All power figures quoted should be on the wheels, but this fact should also be mentioned to spectators.
Safety, Safety, Safety! Saw a guy standing right in front of the right front wheel of a car that was at full power on the dyno and he was edging dangerously close to the rollers without knowing it (30cm!), as he was trying to look at the computer screen. If the results were displayed somewhere else or anounced, this should not be necesarry. How about running screens in parallel where the second screen is a big screen and removed from the action.
A lot of people come to watch, but if the dyno bay is crowded and you do not go and find out what the results were, what are spectators really doing there, besides meeting with other club members etc.

Stu - Ok not much help from there. Can somebody please explain what happened. Clearly - did the car go forward - backward - sideways off the dyno?. What damage?. etc.etc. We ran several dsg's the previous time at KAR and no problems except sometimes it would kick back a gear instead of staying in the one you selected. Perhaps putting some extra straps on the dsg car might be prudent.

I was there,a chunk of the run flat tyre got ripped off too,if it wasn't for the straps the results would have been catastrophic.Duno if this is true or not but I heard whilst the motor was spinning down after the run,the dyno operator selected reverse or something to that effect and that caused the car to plunge sideways etc..

Guys, can U please organise a screen for the dyno figures to be shown @ on a wall or something. I think there will be a lot of peeps there, and it would be nice to chill at the back somewhere whilst still seeing power figures reflecting on a screen. Like @ the Snail dyno day.
It will make things alot more compfortable and no jostling for places in the front.
What you guys say?

If any one can bring a projector i will bring the rest... i have the VGA switch and a lot of VGA cable....IF they have a darkish room with white walls we can show on them, can someone phone them and ask, or i will go there sometime today or tomorrow to check the place see if it can do what we need.
