800m is hardly a substitute for Gerotek. I say we should have a 1km sprint or drop that all together for a proper Zwartkops Track day with timing equipment, the works. It would be very interesting to see what the flying laps are when timed to 100's of a second. 8)
The cost of Gerotek is just about the same as Zwartkops + timing equipment.

Robert
Gerotek is R6900 including MSA, medics and marshalls and speedtraps
Zwartkops is R13860 and excludes MSA and excludes Timing equipment. Zwartkops is only available 9 December in any case.
The prices seem very high. We rented the Go kart track earlier this year for just over R3000 and the big one was R6000 for the afternoon.

Any possabilities of getting a run way somewhere to do like 1.3 kay maybe ?

Westank also sounds like fun for the topend.

I'm sure the OOC won't be irresponsible and put their clubs members lives at risk and I'm sure that you can understand that the committe is doing whats safe for the club members...nobody wants to lose a life for the sake of fun.

I've enjoyed the other events (go kart track Zwartkops, Tarlton, Dyno days), so i wouldn't rate the Gerotek event as "the one great event". :?

I'm all for safety first, so thumbs up to the committee for pulling the plug on this one

First off - what I rate as a greate event is a personal oppinion, so each to his own - there is a sertain thrill you get from going fast around that track

Secondly - the committee did not pull the plug - the members did, if everybody voted that we should have it - we still would

Thirdly - the opel clug recently held an event there

All I am saying is that if the VW club dont hold an event there, I will still go there when another club hosts it - that is all.

Agreed. It is the only proper high speed event we get to do in a year.

Question to the committee - what will the costs be to have a trackday at Wesbank for example?

Agreed! The Gerotek event does add that bit of thrill to it, but I put up the poll and it was senseless booking a track for R8000 and then only 10 guys pitch to race. It would have meant a huge loss for the club. A track day at Wesbank is around R12000 and we have booked it for 15 November already. So we are definitely going to have a Wesbank Track Day!
