Here's the post you've been begging us for and the one we've been anxious to share with you - DubRun 2k21 baby!
Speaking of anxiety, this year's edition of DubRun had to be moved from June due to COVID restrictions, but thanks to the vaccine rollout and declining cases, we can now announce that DubRun is a go, and this time, it's with a sinister twist - read on to see what we're on about...
Event: DubRun 2k21 - Trek or Treat Edition
Dates: Thursday 28 Oct - Sunday 31 Oct
Registration cost (incl. exclusive DR pack with limited-edition T-shirt, stickers, blue tape, and other merch): R350
Additional t-shirts are also available at R250 each.

As we alluded to above, we're doing things a little differently this year by theming our event around Halloween. As such, our categories for this year's TapeUp contest will include special prizes for standout Halloween-themed rides (and if you'd like to sponsor a prize or cash towards prizegiving for the event, slide into our DMs). More details on the categories will follow, but start thinking about your designs now. Be wild, be imaginative, be creative, be ghoulish!
Event itinerary:
Thurs, 28 Oct - TapeUp
As is our custom, the time and venue for registration check-in with the VWCSA to receive your packs, tape your cars up, and meet some of your fellow DubRunners. The location will be announced privately to all registered participants to avoid overcrowding. Media outlets that wish to cover this mini-event can get in contact to be added to our list of invited guests.
Fri, 29 Oct - Departure
Thanks to DR occurring much later in the year, our traditional meet point won't be quite as chilly this year. We'll meet at Total Petroport Heidelberg (N3 West) - https://goo.gl/maps/boGXnfcXav9nDbkC6 - at our usual time of 5 AM. This will give us a chance to conduct our pre-departure drivers' briefing and grab a fresh roast before the drive to Harrismith. We depart at 6 AM with the goal of reaching Harrismith at around 9:30 (our usual route may change due to ongoing roadworks, but we'll keep everyone updated as the date draws closer). Once in Harrismith, those who have travelled up from the coast can collect their registration packs and share lunch with us before we continue on to our respective accommodations in KZN (we recommend booking in Ballito to remain central to our weekend events, but this is up to you, as is the cost of accommodation).
Once we arrive in KZN, spend the rest of the day at your leisure taking in the ocean air.
Sat, 30 Oct - Park-Off
Saturday will be a very laidback one for us this year as we host a small park-off where Dubrunners can get to know each other and take a closer look at everyone's TapeUp designs. This will be one of the occasions where our judges can really take in your themes and designs, so if you're keen on possibly winning some epic goodies (we have over R15000 worth of giveaways thanks to our awesome sponsors this year), don't remove your theme until Saturday evening.
The park-off will take place from 1PM in the large parking area alongside Beach Bums, the venue for our traditional 'after-party' and the place where we will host prizegiving. Arrive early and bring some camping chairs or simply park and grab some pizza and those infamous Jam Jars at Beach Bums.
TapeUp prizegiving will take place after the Park-Off at Beach Bums on Saturday evening - https://g.page/beachbumsdurban?share - At 6PM, we'll all head into Beach Bums and handle prizegiving before we enjoy some much-anticipated downtime. But don't get too wild - we still have Sunday to look forward to.
Sun, 31 Oct - Breakfast Run
Assuming that the hangovers aren't deathly, you may wish to join us on Sunday morning for a breakfast run to/from the Ballito area, but details will again be confirmed closer to the date. Thereafter, committee members will go their separate ways and so can you. Get a jump on traffic and head back home or take in the salty air a little longer - the choice is yours.
