VWCSA Provisional Events Calendar 2021

Post by J0NN0 »

Hello VW Club SA's Ladies & Gents! :hi:

Get your dairies out! it's time to start booking your calendars as this is what we have planned for our main events 2021!

Most of the events will happen on the specified days but please keep a look out for any changes in the actual event threads which we will post up at least a month in advance.

We will also host/partake in several social events in between our main events :driving:
such as Night Runs, Angela's Picnic, Car Wash, Cars and Coffee, Campfest & the East Rand Motorshow all based on whether Covid restrictions allow of course.

2021 Provisional Event Calendar

15th January - 15th February
minicarmods – Due to Covid regulations the VWCSA decided to postpone Puppies in the Park to March and created a Virtual Event for the month of January. See banner at the top for more info

27th of February
Dyno Day - Insane Racing, Centurion – This event over the years has always been well attended, we accommodate over 100 participants and over 300 spectators at this event, There will be an opportunity for advertising stalls where products may be displayed (free to our current advertisers), Halaal food will be available for purchase. R200 for VWCSA members / R250 for Non-Members

28th of March
Puppies in the Park - We are planning a Picnic drive in support of an Animal Shelter, We will be collecting donations from our members and hand it over to the shelter where our members will be able to spend some time with the dogs & cats in the care of the shelter.
Location: James & Ethel Gray Park

25th of April
Track day - VKC
A day of 4 wheel fun where your skill can truly be tested on the edge. True wheel to wheel racing.
This is open to all cars. The Kart circuit is very tight, and almost a gymkhana for a road-car! It's a race against the clock to get around the track ahead of your class mates, and in keeping it out of the barriers.
R550 for VWCSA members / R700 for Non-Members

30th of May
Car Wash Social
Due to the higher-than-normal costs associated with our mid-year event of DubRun, we wanted to make the warm-up social an affordable one. With that in mind, we’ve arranged a car wash meet-up at a discount!

Venue: MNF Auto Spa, Jewel Beetle Street, Raslouw, Pretoria, 0157
Cost: R80 (was R100)
Time: 9am - 2pm

June
Due to Covid restrictions - No Event was held

July
Due to Covid restrictions - No Event was held

August
Charity Drive

25th of September
Swop Meet - First of it's kind for VWCSA - Details to be confirmed

29th October - 31st October
DubRun21 14th edition – This is our pristine event which everyone looks forward to, We host several mini-events over the days which all starts off with our traditional tape up of cars, We have seen many creative designs over the years and the bar just keeps on being raised as the years go on. In the early hours of Friday morning all participants meet up at a petropoort on the N3 in JHB where the official commencement of DubRun begins, We host a controlled convoy with over 100 cars to the Pavillion Shopping Mall in Durban, We meet up with our KZN members in Harrismith to join what is the biggest car convoy in SA. We host various events on the Saturday & Sunday bringing the JHB & KZN VWCSA family together and we all compete amongst each other to see who has what it takes to win the various prizes over the course of the long weekend.

All participants receive a DubRun pack where all our advertisers generously contribute with pamphlets, products & branded apparel, included in the pack is limited edition DubRun T-shirts and Hoodies which is always well received by our participants, the apparel has become collector’s items amongst our members. There are various opportunities for advertisers to get involved throughout the course of the event.

Dubrun 2k21 has been Postponed

The VWCSA Committee has made the decision to postpone DubRun 2k21 to October.

This has been a really tough decision for the comm, but as things stand, we feel that we cannot give the club the DubRun we all know, love, and deserve. With President Ramaphosa scheduled to address the nation on the 15th of June, one day before we would typically depart on our epic road trip, we do not know what to expect but we do know that there is a lot of talk about a third wave. If there are new restrictions enforced late into our preparations, we will all struggle to adjust our plans and accommodation bookings. The safety of each participant is of utmost importance to us too, so we're erring on the side of caution and playing this one safe.

We hope and trust that all our members and supporters understand why this decision was made.

The new proposed dates will be as follows:

Departure Friday, 29th October
Returning Sunday, 31st October
North Coast
North Coast

Early November
Gymkhana - Details to be confirmed

Late November
Treasure Hunt Various Location – An annual event that has turned out to be a fun filled family day where participants are given clues and activities they have to complete in order to complete this treasure hunt, This event works on the same concept as the Amazing race but since we are all car enthusiasts, you’re navigation skills are required as there is no map to guide you to the finish.
Followed by
Annual General Meeting @ end point of Treasure hunt – This event marks the closure of the 2021 Committee and the elections of the 2022 Committee that will take the clubs ever growing success one step further. Members have their say and all matters of interest are discussed to ensure we are forever evolving and keep our name up at the top as the biggest car enthusiast club of South Africa.

Good day Volkswagen Club!!! :hi:

The committee is hard at work trying to get events planned for 2021 :type:

BUT, we need your help...

Dubrun 2k21 always takes the most planning, so we want to hear from you...

What dates should Dubrun be for 2021 ???? (IF THE PRESIDENT ALLOWS IT)

Due to the public holiday, Youth Day, falling on a Wednesday, this makes planning difficult.

Use the Poll at the top of the Page to assist us.
