This is what happens if you try to organise a first world event in a third world country, every year they hype around Campfest is so big people start prepping for weeks and it is all you see on Facebook, and every year after the event there are a list of complaints, usually the same complaints by different people and more often than not the complaints are about the people who attended or security related.

I will never camp over at a Campfest again.

It's a new venue and I am sure if they are using it again next year, that things will go smoother, La'eeq has always responded to concerns or constructive criticism on here and replied with a possible solution or the next year.

But no matter how many security guards they throw at the event, the attendees will always be an issue. Unless you can change the mindset of the calibre of people who attend, not much is going to change, the event will get bigger and bigger until someone gets shot or run down by a drunk wheel-spinning idiot and the event gets canned. I am sure LVH will reply here as soon as they are done counting their millions and caught up with some sleep.

I wonder how the ATKV feels about their resort this morning hehehe.

Ya mense......i have to agree with Grant.

The judging was supposed to have started at 08:30.....

....they could have moved that massive Gazebo next to the stage to the car ramp to provide some shelter to the Judges....

Was my first time there too. Camped over at a different resort away from the hooligans. That part of my weekend was epic. The actual festival was a joke. I will not attend next year. Same complaints as above.

We decided last minute not to go, with fresh memories of the last two years still lingering...

Seems nothing has changed.

I'd like to know of anyone asked the PVW judge his opinions on the calibre of cars, especially the sheer amount of replica wheels in the SA scene?

Regarding the hooliganism, isn't it the same with these kinds of shows over the waters? Or are the spectators well behaved after they've drunk liters of warm beer?

Brotiform wrote:A couple of points which I hope can be made available to Cum Laude. This was my second Camp Fest and probably the last time I'll drive that distance for their events again :

1. Show n Shine started far too late and the Mk1 and Citi classes ran up until 2pm before anything else was judged.

2. The judges had ZERO shade provided to them and were expected to work in the blistering heat all day , this resulted in the guest judge , Jamie Orr , stepping down from judging midway through the day. By the time the mk4s had reached stage Jamie was not even judging them or anything further....

The judges are providing a major service to what is deemed the highlight of Camp Fest , SURELY these guys should be catered for and given more favourable working conditions?

3. The shared entry for show n shine cars that had to enter via the dirt road entrance shared with "ricer day visitors" instead of allowing show n shine to use the paved gate 2 entry was really not suitable.

4. Finally , the show area was supposed to be a NO DRIVE ZONE , that was another rule that was just thrown to the wayside with anybody allowed to drive anywhere and park wherever they pleased , and of course in the process , kicking up a sweet layer of dust over the show n shine cars :/
Exactly that what you say....I cant remember how many times I was cleaning out my brothers caddy(Strawberry and cream)...The Sun was terrible and then the dust. The waiting killed me in the morning for Show and Shine...
But the Caddy (Strawberry and cream) finally got to the main stage but shoh the wait was too much...Eventually didn't wait till the end as it was too hot and with the unrest in the areas needed to leave early before something was happening on the roads....
We parked in the other Zone where all the other cars were parked and Caddy (Strawberry and cream) was parked in the show area, but when we got there we saw other cars were also parked there and we also went to bring our cars in....

Was my first time as well. I went to the fest expecting huge entertainment and an awesome show. I actually left disappointed!

1. I was sitting in the queue for about close to 3 hours. While sitting in the queue, people just barged in and took my spot. Felt like I was going to throw a few PK's, but none the less I thought to myself to just stay calm in expectancy that once I'm inside, everything will be all cool and awesome. Like I said above, what a disappointment.

2. There was actually a **** load of dust. Dust everywhere! People spinning and doing handbrake turns throwing even more dust on the cars.

3. I actually spent a **** load of money as this was the only entertainment I had, apart from alcohol. :(

4. I went back outside to go and buy a few things at the garage across the venue. Upon going back to the entrance with my ticket on my arm, they told me to go and stand in the queue again. They did not give a **** that I have been inside and that I have the brace/ticket thing on my arm. Then I just decided, this **** ain't doing it for me. So I left and had a big daddy at hooters.

This was my first and last camp fest!

Actually I heard opposing stories....until later I was standing near a crowd where he was having a conversation with someone.....he's super impressed...hates fake wheels but impressed that our country pulls it off due to not having access to the real stuff.......and he's bowled over at our MK1 scene....

But that's all I managed to pick up.

Yes you could walk to the Caltex garage, but they also rand out of ice by midday.
