Yeah the winner was announced on fb, they managed to complete the install afaik.

Very neat local setup.

I enjoyed meeting new people and making contacts as well as seeing cars with my installs up on the ramp being judged and the judges giving approving nods but overall the actual show was a disappointment.

ah oki i see, Tauriq hasn't said much in our WA all weekend on account that he has been busy obviously - and Lorenzo (one of the judges) also kept us up to date as much as he could.

Brotiform wrote:A couple of points which I hope can be made available to Cum Laude. This was my second Camp Fest and probably the last time I'll drive that distance for their events again :

1. Show n Shine started far too late and the Mk1 and Citi classes ran up until 2pm before anything else was judged.

2. The judges had ZERO shade provided to them and were expected to work in the blistering heat all day , this resulted in the guest judge , Jamie Orr , stepping down from judging midway through the day. By the time the mk4s had reached stage Jamie was not even judging them or anything further....

The judges are providing a major service to what is deemed the highlight of Camp Fest , SURELY these guys should be catered for and given more favourable working conditions?

3. The shared entry for show n shine cars that had to enter via the dirt road entrance shared with "ricer day visitors" instead of allowing show n shine to use the paved gate 2 entry was really not suitable.

4. Finally , the show area was supposed to be a NO DRIVE ZONE , that was another rule that was just thrown to the wayside with anybody allowed to drive anywhere and park wherever they pleased , and of course in the process , kicking up a sweet layer of dust over the show n shine cars :/
Same as last years comments and the year before and the year before and the year before :bang:
Deranged_9n3 wrote:Was my first time going to the fest. We went on Saturday btw. I must admit, yeah we had fun, but I wasn't impressed ! Id!ots wheelspinning on the gravel entrance kicking up dust and rocks everywhere, goons throwing handbrake turns inside the event, others driving up and down the whole day ( god knows where they are driving too the whole time )

Maybe I am too full of SH/T but grown ups acting like kids in a playground full of expensive toys, not nice.

Oh and let me not get started on the white G7 .:R with the plate "000 WAH GP" what a tool
Wheel spins and rev offs all over, same as last year and the year before and the year before and before
PoLonY wrote: Agreed with all of the above.

I came there with pretty high expectations given the level of hype around this campfest story and hoped that the level of organisation had been stepped up a notch.

I left pretty disappointed tbh.

It has so much potential to be great, but a few things as pointed out above really let it down.

also walking around and seeing garbage left strewn everywhere due to a lack of proper waste bins was pretty miff and there was no organisation to the parking which meant it was a nightmare to see all the cars as they were all parked haphazardly over the field.
There will never be organization for the parking, its park where you like , throw up a gazebo, throw your dirt and broken bottles on the floor while your mate revs and spins for you
Barney1212 wrote:and the toilets.... :fear:
I seen the site map, with 5000 odd people I would think they needed more than 1 ablution facility
Tander wrote:Was my first time there too. Camped over at a different resort away from the hooligans. That part of my weekend was epic. The actual festival was a joke. I will not attend next year. Same complaints as above.
Every year a new excited person goes there and comes back feeling this way
gumpertapolloss wrote:Was my first time as well. I went to the fest expecting huge entertainment and an awesome show. I actually left disappointed!

1. I was sitting in the queue for about close to 3 hours. While sitting in the queue, people just barged in and took my spot. Felt like I was going to throw a few PK's, but none the less I thought to myself to just stay calm in expectancy that once I'm inside, everything will be all cool and awesome. Like I said above, what a disappointment.

2. There was actually a **** load of dust. Dust everywhere! People spinning and doing handbrake turns throwing even more dust on the cars.

3. I actually spent a **** load of money as this was the only entertainment I had, apart from alcohol. :(

4. I went back outside to go and buy a few things at the garage across the venue. Upon going back to the entrance with my ticket on my arm, they told me to go and stand in the queue again. They did not give a **** that I have been inside and that I have the brace/ticket thing on my arm. Then I just decided, this **** ain't doing it for me. So I left and had a big daddy at hooters.

This was my first and last camp fest!
Same story from last year, the year before and before and before, but hey you found garage across the venue which was nice. Thats something new.

I've been to 3 of these, the last one I went to was at Hartebeespoort resort. Every year the same comments get made, and the next year there are those hopefulls that attend and return the Monday complaining about the exact same thing.

I've spoken to alot of the guys that go annually and they all said this was the last. The biggest issue is and will always be crowd control, and unfortunately nothing can be done about this. It's alcohol abuse, alcohol gives people inconsiderate tendencies, and they **** it up for everybody else out there who was just chilling and making a good day out of it.

The Judging stage looks good no doubt, but the sun will always be around. But perhaps have one of those fancy tents that will provide shelter to the judges.

Something like this. It will cost a few grand but that way it also eliminates one complaint for next year
Image

The ablution facilities are Cufking disgusting, I needed to piss at the last one I attended and decided to wait till I get out of there. The floors are wet, theres toilet paper and mud and I can go on and on and on. Pay that bit extra, get a company like servest or anybody that will be there 24hrs to clean. It will be hard work, but that is what those people get paid for. The resort cleaners have fokol idea what camp fest is, and neither do resort management, so they THINK they will be able to provide that service and FAIL.

Start things on time! if people are late, TOO BAD! Don't waste everybody elses time.

Campfest was fueled by the love of VW. Laeeq and his crew try their best, there are small things to sort out which would make a major change. As mentioned above, I wasn't there, I don't ever intend on going again. Purely because the same issues are being raised every year. Like I said, the biggest issue is and always will be crowd control. Instead of shooting down camp fest, it would really be a class event that many naysayers would attend every year if the above gets addressed.

It's definitely not the case of "Good cars, great company and relaxed atmosphere" but it will get there in time. Well done to Laeeq and his team for pulling it off again. Many people will return every year, so there is definitely something JUST RIGHT thats happening. I wish it was like that for all of us though.

because they dont know how to respect there own cars

Surely you can't win best of show 2 years running, also you shouldn't be able to win your class and best of show in the same year.
