Ive noticed on various forums (where im unfortunately not a member) comments about the Opel track car and how some people would have liked to take him on and how slow he was...... blah blah blah blah.

Just so you know it was both drivers first day ever on Kyalami.....actually first experience on any track for that matter, so its understandable why they were cautious and maybe slow. Maybe someone can relay the message for me to the other forums so the "experts" can give the guy a break.

Ja, I was quite surprised to see Jerry and Angus racing somewhere that required breaking and turning

That car has was more pace in it, I'm sure the drivers will get there soon. No point driving beyond your abilities and totalling a properly built car.

I'd like to see Angus's Corsa out there, but as I recall it's around 400kW so that won't like the bends.

Fantastic, well organized event. Thank you very much indeed VWCSA & organizers. We had so much fun; great bunch of lads while the on-track sportsmanship was outstanding.

Thanks also Kruch for some great pics.

I'd additionally like to extend my appreciation to Brucet & Kruch for their support (although on this forum, all have been kind). You are correct regarding our (Jerry & myself) level of 'racing' experience. We are getting to know the car (& track) and certainly, the last thing we want to do is write the car off being stupid asses...

Indeed, we were a constant target throughout the day however we weren't particularly phased by this, comes with the territory. I personally managed a best of 2:05.891 (the car is capable of much more, in the hands of a pro).

Thanx again to the organizers; it was an absolutely epic event, best I've ever had, and beats drag-racing 6-love! Much obliged.

The show and shine was an absolute flop....

"judging will happen at 13:30" then at 13:30... Not even remembering who I am... "we plan to start judging at 14:39 and deciding on a winner at 16:00" on which case I let them keep my 140 bucks and gladly left the flop of an event

So this should explain why I couldn't put power down out the corners in the session where I finally went and pushed on. This happened on lap 1 of my hot laps.

Luckily it was only the Anti Roll bar.

Very scary.

I only had two tires off the road at the kink before the pits. Don't remember hitting any hard bumps at all. Just slid wide cold tyres and brakes and floored it out.

Only on the way home could I hear a slight clonking over uneven bumps. Nothing on the track.

Even checked the car when I got back to the pits to make sure all was still good. Didn't see anything obvious.
Thought it was just a loose drop link bolt again.

I know I must have hit a whole or something pretty hard. Just wondering if a different brand instead of JOMS would have had the same result ?

I would be very scared of keeping that brand of shock on my car.

It could of been 100 times worse :fear: Are you going to replace the 1 shock or get a whole new kit?

Car is looking good there John.
I have never seen one of my coilovers do that before, and i have been running them for a few years.

Could it not be to much stress on the droplink from it being to long?

Running FK shortened drop links. But looking at replacing those now as well as they keep comming loose. Or did. Havnt since using thread lock.

Will try replace just front shocks for now. Battling o find good pricing for sporty shocks

Hey dude. Yeah, I checked you there the other day, you didn't say hello. Corsa has stupid power; actually I'm terrified of that thing. Thinking of converting it to track car too, cause its way more fun.

Reghard Roets did a personal best of 1:58 in this car, however with a stock turbo & restricted. I believe they have GT28's in Touring car these days.

You'd be surprised at Jerrys track progress; he's never been on track in his life (except while tuning the car with Reghard driving. And his times are there.
