I think 50/50 split is not good idea. Members should get preference.

The 50/50 is not essential we just need 75 with a mix dude to add to the additional support we need to secure the venue. I rarely see 50 members at an event in my time here anyway!

Any idea how many sessions we'll get in the day?

Would suck if it was like 1 or 2?

We are arranging 15 minute sessions, with 4 groups. So call it 4 sessions an hour (although it may take a little longer than that with clearing the track etc) you'd look at possibly getting upto 7 sessions in if you hung around all day.

15 minute sessions for road cars are plenty long enough, you'll start destroying stuff if you're out for much longer than that. We'll have other entertainments on the day too for your 'inbetween sessions' time.

If everyone is out on track at the same time, yes.

It sounds like a lot, but on 4.6+km of track, thats 200meters of track inbetween cars.

Both. And not only really engine size either, but what type of car etc.
The 4 groups would be
- Inexperienced Drivers in 'normal' cars. (Slow)
- Inexperienced Drivers in Powerful cars and Limited Experienced drivers in 'normal' cars. (Average)
- Experienced Drivers in 'normal to powerful' cars. (Quick)
- Well Experienced drivers with top end cars or purpose built track cars. (Fast)

We're in no way going to force to you stay in a group all day. If you start out in the slow group and you're overtaking cars left right and centre, we'll move you up a class. If you start in the Fast class and become a mobile chicane, we're going to put you somewhere more appropriate. These classes aren't hard and fast, and I will be having meetings with the marshalls beforehand to ascertain their ideas of how we should group guys.

Kyalami Track Experience 30-10-2011

Post by Sinbad »

Last kyalami day I went to they had professional race drivers there. Every driver went on one sighting lap with a production cars driver. The pro drivers then categorized us into groups based on cars and how we drove... Dont know if something like that is practical - probably not.
