Was a pity that there were so few N/A cars and even less in class A.

But anywho, great to finally meet some of the guys.

I had a blast.

It was nice meeting you Donovan. Your caddy looks good.
Yeah it was great to meet you as well.

Think your .:R is very nice and makes some decent power.

Hopefully we meet up at the next event again.

How stingy the dyno is or how it compares to trying to work it back to a flywheel figure means absolutely NOTHING. It is the same for all the cars run on the day which is what it is all about. Boasting big numbers off a false dyno reading means nothing to anybody anyway.

But like they say a chassis dyno is never a true reading of the cars power output.

If anybody would like to read a little something I found of the net about dyno runs you can read it in the technical section.

Reason I asked is that on same dyno but DIFFERENT day my figures read 134kw and 491nm, at an ambient teperature of 30deg. So, it just seems a bit low.....

I guess I was not there on the same day, so cannot compare.

It felt like a procession of slightly modified mk5 golfs and chipped TDI's. There was not one car there that I was scared was going to fly straight of the dyno or explode and those are normally the traits of a scary powerfull car. Or at least something that raise your eyebrows. It looks like most of the guys are simply now buying a golf 5(how I don't know I never used to have money like that when I was a youngster) and then getting software on it. That give the usual predictable 150 to 180 kw/330nm and that is it. Where are the 250kw+ aftermarket turbo monsters...and the crazy modded N/A 16v's etc.

Ok that white 16v CITI that was there wasn't crazy modified but wow was it strong.

If I remember correctly it was 108.4kw.

I want a crazy modded N/A 16v

@panic-mechanic : You have a sleeper of note. Definitely would not expect that motor in there.

I missed that strong citi 16v. Was run already by the time I got there. Just saw it's owner with the pretty blue eyes wait for the throphy all day. But yes - those are decent numbers.

I like sleepers. Even my mk2 was pretty much stock looking. Only thing I ever changed on that looks wise was the rims. If you are sharp you might also notice the different brakes..

that car cant be stock
i made 78kw and 277nm
(110kw and 365nm's)
that means youre doing the same power as ruan almost that cant be right
Thats why as soon as i got home i double checked with the mech and the previous owner.

Both say nothing has been done, the previous owner would tell me, he was quite impressed at first and didnt wanna believe me til i showed him the dyno printout

look at it this way, software wise, there cannot be any aftermarket cos i havent done anything after the turbo replacement, it has the standard map from vw.

Is there anything i can check besides that? cos i would really love to confirm physically that this car is really stock.

I know that the car has not gone for a de cat, i saw it, and the intake is the stock one, so other than that i dont know what else to check lol.

unless vw decided to upgrade me without me knowing about it (doubt that lol)

I wasn't completely sure but I did notice something different with the brakes.
From what car are they from?

Yeah he just wanted to get his hand on the Valve, but must congratulate him on a decent 16v.

Why wasn't the MK3 on the dyno?

Was a great day thanks comm.
I am very impressed with th 1.6 TDI it made 59.1kw and 215nm.
The car only had 1300km on the clock so the power should increase a little when the motor
loosen up a bit.

I did, I did. I saw this GS coming towards me with some guy in it and i assumed that it might be you but was unsure, then as you turned I saw gti brakes with new brakes pads then said that could be P-M, then slowly stalked you into the workshop and waited then took a chance and said "are you Panic-Mech?"

LOL......so where does that leave the GTi ??

For n/a your dyno figures are good, nicely done, after all these years a VW has finally managed to pip me in that class, however, out on the highway i don't see you taking out turbo hatches in your mirror........lemme know if you wanna try.

For some reason my GSI was down a bit on the day, perhaps the 3-4 month fuel may be an issue....who knows, but i'll get it sorted and bring the GSI fight back to ya :geek:

Dyno figures don't mean too much to me, when I was on my 1st turbo and map making 105kw 340nm odd, Dazza made more power than me with his cupra at KAR but when we ran at the jamboree it was a different story. On my current setup i'll pull clear of a cupra.

You are right, i must have been making more power on the 1st turbo also cos it felt stronger than what it is now, even tho i get the whole smoother map thing from vw.

I dont think im out to race my tdi tho hehe, the supercharged one will be used for mental driving, i am a bit of a granny driver, i dont really ever go to full throttle
