VWCSA Presents: Krugersdorp HillClimb 2019

Post by Sebz »

Finally, we are able to release details on the legendary HillClimb event!

Image

A huge thanks to our returning sponsor, Gerardo from Maverick Generators, for getting involved again. An expensive event to put on, any additional sponsors would be welcomed, so contact us via email with the subject line HillClimb Sponsorship if you have some free cash to help put on this motorsport favourite: admin@vwclub.co.za

Taking place on Sunday the 29th of September, drivers’ briefing will take place at 9AM sharp. This is very important, as non-attendees will not be permitted to compete, so get there early!

An additional bonus for this year is that we should have even more accurate timing equipment and a live feed for all to see the times as they are posted, plus a large screen to help more of the event to be visible to more spectators. Social media love coverage is happening too, courtesy of Henk and the team behind the Simola HillClimb filming.

A limited number of spots will be available, so register ASAP:

https://www.vwclub.co.za/forms/KRUGERSD ... B_2019.pdf

Send your completed form to the address noted at the bottom of the sheet.

Date: Sunday 29 September 2019
Time: 8:30 - drivers’ briefing at 9AM
Cost: R200 for members / R300 for non-members - FREE for spectators.

All brands of cars welcome - NO BIKES or RACECARS. YOUR VEHICLE MUST HAVE A LICENCE DISC TO COMPETE.

Get your entries in!

It is a race to see who gets the quickest time up a short twisty piece of road near an airfield and a sewerage farm.
Hill Climb = race.

You can show & shine to your hearts content, except the Krugerdorp wind and dust will laugh at you.
And you can convoy with others if you want.

why are so few guys entering this event? I have participated 3 times and it was a jol each time! I sadly can't enter this year due to a gearbox that is not in a happy state.......on my 30 year old car.....okes with modern cars surely have no excuse? Surely your car can do more than parkoff/ lay frame or race in a straight line?
I'm literally can't evening!

Because having a car that can sprint to 100 in 6 seconds, has brilliant handling, brilliant brakes, etc as standard, then modded to make it faster, handle better and stop on a dime is waaaaaaaay too precious to actually prove what it can do.
It is way better to park off and show what it looks like, rev the snot out of it for no other reason than piss everyone off and look "cool" than it is to actually use the thing for what it is designed to do.

Wish I could attend this one. Was really looking forward to this. After the VKC event, I am so hooked on the events with twisties.

Unfortunately it's my brother in law's wedding on Saturday. :(

UPDATE: We have been let down by numerous food vendors for this Sunday, so if anyone has any contacts, please send them to me ASAP.

The trouble is that said food vendor MUST get to the West Rand Regional Health Office with their food truck, allow it to be inspected, and pay R130 to get certification.

We essentially need this done today so that all documentation can be submitted tomorrow. Thus far, only one vendor has been willing to do this and they have been turned away due to not having an actual food trailer (they set up a collapsible stall).

Unfortunately, this is a new requirement for the event and without certification, we will not be able to provide food on the day.

Any leads would be highly appreciated. Email me on scenizo7@gmail.com / WhatsApp or call me on 079 three seven seven 0247
