Re: 8v block with neo vvl head

Another thing to keep in mind is that all the newer high revving motors tend to be square or oversquare configurations to reduce piston speed, the older 2.0 VW motors are all undersquared, so more torque but not really high revving by nature, unless you built a custom bottom end with shorter stroke ...

You can expect it on here where English is not necessarily the mother tongue of a lot of members (me included), what is scary how common this is on the UK/American Forums as well.

If you can do something like this... (Pimped from another discussion)

Re: 288 estas cam in 2L 8v

I had a 2.0 8V Velo with a 298 cam as a daily in Joburg, did on average around 3500km/month - traffic jams and all. Only issue I ever had was once when sitting idling on an incline with my foot on the brake I lost vacuum (assist) and the car started to roll back, after the initial confusion I diagno...

Re: What would you do with R14m?

The incorrect payment of funds happens more often than realised. When the insurance paid me out for my Vivo they paid the full amount into my bank account. I immediately called Wesbank and asked them to run a special debit order to settle the account, they said they would but it didn't happen. I lef...

Re: How lost have you been?

When I was a young lad working for Company A I was itching for a job at company B. I applied and got invited for an interview, on my way there I got lost badly in JHB (keep in mind this was before GPS devices) and decided to can the idea. Well, 35 years later I'm still working for Company A and in r...

Re: Whats the most work you've done to your car in any parking lot(Office/spares shop/mall) ??

I once had to steal my own car... When I still had my Velo I went to Cash Convertors in Boksburg, parked in front of the shop and engaged the factory gearlock. When leaving I discovered that no amount of fiddling and swearing could unlock the gearlock, the internal locking mechanism seemed to have b...

Re: RANT ACTION FORD KRUGERSDORP & MAYFAIR GEARBOX

When my Vivo got stolen from a panelbeater their liability insurance paid me out retail (minus the original accident damage that my insurance paid for). My insurance company handled everything, probably put some pressure on the panelbeater to settle seeing that they send me there to begin with.

The price on the H&R was $1599 when I looked, so factoring in the exchange rate and shipping costs it will work out pretty much the same as what you pay for it locally. Koni's you can get locally as well.

I've got a set of H&R coilovers on my Storm, really transformed the ride. I got it for R10k, the previous owner did one track day with them then sold the car. Last time I looked the new price was R23k at Import Parts.

It happens so quick, I had a slight leak on my GT's gearbox that I neglected, one day it started whining in 5th - I drained the gearbox oil immediately and filled up with quality synthetic oil but the damage was done. 5th gear set turned blue (overheated) and had to be replaced. 5th gear is always t...

As far as I know Dicktator makes a specific 36-1 ECU. They can reconfigure the 60-2 to work on the 36-1 setup but that will require a firmware upgrade.

Correct - 20mm wrist pin and the piston must be pocketed as well.
