Re: Golf 5 2.0 FSi Common Issues + Other Related Questions

I've had my FSI for just over 2yrs now and it hasnt skipped a heartbeat. Very reliable cars and a pleasure to drive. I only had a catastrophic clutch plate failure due to my driving style. My car sees redline every single time im behind the wheel, basically everyday. Enjoy it bro!

Re: adrenalin re002 or eagle f1 assymetric 2 tyres for gti 6

I have fitted the Hankook V12 on my S3. I have done 22K on these tyres with no problem, these tyres still have more that 70% life on them, no road noise, I had the Conti's on the car, @ 21000kms I had to change them.. .completely wasted..., Hankooks are OEM for Audi. I dont have experience with the...

I also have GY F1 Asy on my Golf, nothing compares so far. Replaced Pirelli Pzero Rosso with the GY.

MKII Carb to MP9 FI Conversion

Hey guys. My friend and i are busy with a project car. Its 1.8L carb MK2. We want to put in 2.0 engine, preferably ADY. Anyway, there are questions that I still have about this project. Before anyone directs me to a search function, I've done that and I got no joy. We have already started collecting...

Re: 276 vs 272

I think we should hold back a little in telling people to use the search function. It doesnt always help, and besides, more than 90% of topics have been discussed, they are just recurring. If the search function was flawless, there would be less new topic since you can only have so many problems wit...

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

Okay I ended up taking the dirt cheapest route for two reasons. 1. It was very easy to remove the gearbox and I did it all alone by myself, for re-installation, I couldnt do it by myself so I asked someone for his 5 minutes to help me put back the gearbox. So all in all, its a job that I can do agai...

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

Finally had some time to take the gearbox out. Here's what greeted me as I was removing the pressure plate: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/TumiLondon/DSC01905.jpg The culprit is a fatigued metal piece in red: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/TumiLondon/DSC01908.jpg The results: http://...

Sinbad wrote:When i heard a car with single mass I thought the engine had bent a rod.

If thats the general noise they make, I wont be able to stand it, diesel cars are unbearable to me, im talking about old and unhealthy ones, just too much noise for my liking. I guess ill pass the idea of single mass flywheel.

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

In my research, they say single mass flywheel chutter alot, it makes noise at idle. Has anyone ever heard it and is it that bad? BTW, my other option which I doubt that ill take, my friend wrote off his A3 2.0FSI Sportback, he said I can take his flywheel and the rest of his clutch components. His c...

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

IMHO rather replace it with new one... Might save you from doing it again anytime soon... Thats true. Its then going to take some budgeting for that, maybe another month including this one, thats why I wanted to change the clutch kit without changing the flywheel. I'll just inspect it(flywheel) and...

Now that sound expensive as well, that flywheel goes for around R3000 if im not mistaken. Why wont I be able to use the one that I have if its still in good condition?

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

I was really not looking forward to that kind of job, dropping the gearbox seems like the only logical thing to do to have a proper assessment. Maybe I should look for a mech who can do a better job than I can for R500 max on labour  , doubt that one exist, otherwise, I'll book a weekend for my...

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

The car just clocked 180 000km. Not sure if its on original clutch, it has full service history and no clutch change is reflected anywhere on the book. I guess its on original clutch then. My driving style still leaves alot to be desired. I would say at the least the car sees redline on daily bases....

Re: Kilometers on your car?

Bought my Golf 2.0 FSI last year April with 144Kkm, I just hit 180Kkm about a month ago. Alot of people still think its a brand new car, still looks good. Problems wise, just started giving problems changing gear, normal wear and tear material. i think its still on original clutch cause no clutch ch...

Re: Golf 2.0 FSI problems

pressure plate might have some broken fingers.. Did thought about that, but how often does that happen? Instead, i've heard alot about bent or broken clutch forks. Driving with your foot on the pedal ne Dont like doing that. Even at a traffic light, id rather put in neutral and use handbrake rather...

Golf 2.0 FSI problems

Hey guys. My car has been standing for almost a month before I took it for a drive last week. Re: MK5 FSI Gear Change Problems

I really hope its as easy as clutch and not the gearbox. Two more things that i forgot to mention, when I drive, to get it easier in gear, i have to slow down by applying brake and quickly put it into gear. The other thing is that i did clutch test, the only wrong thing i did was use 1st gear instea...

MK5 FSI Gear Change Problems

Hi all. Last night I experienced problems with my car. It happened without warning and I cant seem to figure out what the problem might be. When the car is not moving, I can find all gears without a problem. Now lets say I put it into 1st and start moving, it moves but then it will be a mission to g...

@onyx did yours just start leaking? I can accept responsibility if I know as a fact that these housing break on their own, but for now, I believe it was broken by VW.

Golf FSI Pissing Oli

Hi guys. I might have exagerated in my subject, but my car does leave some oil marks. Here's the story: I took my car for a major service at 175 000km at VW, I do my services 5000km before time, hence my service was at 175Kkm. Anyway, I always had oil free parking spot for a year since I owned this ...

By considering REVO, does that mean that your ride hasnt been sorted yet? Think about many more of the guys who might use the same tuner and who doesnt know what pinging sounds like, they'll be happily driving with big smiles not knowing the destruction they're causing to their engines. Name the tun...

Re: So, i replaced my brake discs and pad

Im not a strong lad, so I guess if I can do this, then anyone else can. You can use long nose pliers, just position it in the groves of the caliper piston and push while you turn at the same time. Its kinda sore, but it works. I changed my Golf 5 rear pads like that, both done in about 30min.
