Pyro - My 9n3 Polo GTI (Pic Heavy)

Postby pyro-zn » Sat Oct 18, 2014 3:42 pm

So ... some of you would have seen my 07 Polo 9n3 GTI AKA Pyro up for sale on the forum. Well, it has been sold, or traded in rather. I have a 2013 Polo 1.4 Comfortline now and really am missing the boost. I was going to get the Polo 6 GTI, but there's this guy on Facebook who has it, but rips on the car everytime, especially about his car having a 2nd engine replaced... It was hard finding a clean one. So yeah.

I thought I'd share some pictures of Pyro, :hi:

When I first got Pyro, you will see the car wasn't as red as I'd hoped:

Image

I then got a quote of R 1950 from Amazing Glaze Pinetown for the full Valet, Glaze and 35% Smash and Grab. I was very impressed with their work, except that my seats smelled like they were burnt for a while  and don't worry, I never washed my car with sunlight liquid or polished it with P11 like the prank I have going on Facebook

Image

Image

After two weeks of driving, I did some research on an exhaust system. So from the research and advice from friends, I coughed up some money and went to Primaforce North Coast Road for a 76mm Downpipe and 63mm exhaust. I loved it, the tone was awesome and I could feel the difference in the turbo... Sorry about the tyre marks @ guys at Primaforce

Image

Image

Image

I got bored of the standard VW radio and decided to fit my old sound into the car, consisting of and Alpine Head-unit, Pioneer SVC and Starsound Amp ... nothing major, but did the job:

Image

I got a little bored of the exterior, so I bought a can of black plasti-dip and sprayed the badges. I also picked up the honeycomb set from Radical Rides:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Underground parking ... the exhaust definitely set off alarms

Image

Getting some good economy from driving like a b*tch

Image

Since I still had the side-mound intercooler, I needed to make holes into the honeycomb grill... sat for half a day with a drill and a stanley knife :geek:

Image

I got tired of driving a high car ... after seeing Saiendra, Deslin, Daryl, Noel, Gareth, Bevin, Stompie and Thamashen riding on coilovers, I started bugging Rob @ Dubcorp for a set of JOMs/FKs. Months went by and he couldn't get a set due to the currency. I could have orded a set for myself, but since Pyro was a daily, should something go wrong, I couldn't leave it parked off with a blown shock etc ... So Rob said he can give me a set of Maxtrac, which is 50mm/50mm drop. I wasn't too happy as I heard reviews about those being entry level, but decided to give it a chance. Rob removed the rear adjusters/helpers so that I got the ride height that I wanted. The ride was very firm, but I knew I wasn't expecting 15k Koni quality here ...

Image

Many thanks to Rob :hi: excellent work!

So Dayne contacted me and said that there's a breakfast run and that he'd like me to join. I said sure :hi: ... I met up with Dayne and William at Radical's Wash. I thought I kept my car clean... you should see these guys' cars!

Image

We then met up with the guys at The Ridge in Shallcross and made our way to Quarry Road. It was nice to see so many clean GTIs... I say this, cause in Westville, I see a lot of people not taking care of there cars. Here's some pics of Pyro in the breakfast run:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I was rather sad at one part ... cause Ashveer does not have coilovers yet his car was lower than mine! those adjustable shocks are well worth it. Day was filled with gunshots!

The rest of the pics are random shots, some by me and some by friends.

Was very sad to see it go. My reason for selling: I was putting a lot of mileage on it, which is bad in my eyes for a car like that. The car was clean, so whoever gets it next is going to be very lucky! :hi: If I find more pics, I will upload them here. Thanks for the read.

Many thanks! True that ... I had an extended warranty for a year. I've driven the car hard, but not often ... just to make sure all is intact, if I was trying to show off, or if I was just enjoying the drive :driving:

Many thanks bro. Thanks for giving Kyle a shout about my car... I was running short of time, otherwise I'm sure he would have been the next owner.

Really missing the GTI. Here's some final snaps before it got sold... saw it in Umhlanga near Gateway. Dude was tearing the [email protected] out of it, spinning on 2nd gear ... probably loaded a strong file (unless I saw a completely different car).
