Good Day,
Recently bought myself a 2014 Mk7 GTI Golf. All has been fine until recently there has been a loud ticking noise from the top of the motor which comes and goes. Sometimes whilst driving the car will hesitate and shudder and then the ticking noise returns.
No fault codes will show when the ticking noise or shuddering happens.
One mechanic has said to me to change the camshafts.
I have changed the intake manifold for a new one, new map sensor on the intake manifold and changed all 4 plugs.
I have also tried disconnecting the camshaft adjuster magnets when the ticking sound comes but it does not change anything.
Really starting to frustrate me as i can not enjoy my car as there is clearly something wrong with it!

Where are you located? Can possibly recommend a shop to take your car too.
Can certainly be camshafts

Re: MK7 GTI Ticking and Shuddering
I’m located in Zimbabwe.
I’ve fitted new camshaft adjuster magnets but they were the metal ones not the plastic ones. Rattle and ticking noise seems gone at idle but can still be heard between 1500-2000rpm. Maybe a hydraulic lifter?
