Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
I bought a computer box with the plug but previous owner cut it (don't know why) anyway i want to rewire a snake/short harness as i'm changing to mp9 from carb
I have a few plugs and if not ,ill get whatever is needed also know that the ecu box is decoded
(golf 1.8 carb to 1.8 fuel injection)
ecu box to -
ignition
fuel rail harness with map sensor
fuel pump
lift pump
distributor
throttle
and whatever else needs to be connected
can Some 1 please give me either a diagram or advice or any kind of help please

Re: Help rewiring a mp9 Short harness (diagrams)
topic discussed enough times, a quick search found the below, go through it, should clear up most of your questions.
Also you don't need to wire up the ignition ring when using a decoded ecu, unless you plan to use a coded key and ecu.

Wiring needs to go to the below sensors
throttle body
map sensor
injectors
knock sensor
3 pin coil
distributor
4 pin water temp switch
Fuel pump relay

Re: Help rewiring a mp9 Short harness (diagrams)
Guys as you can see my pins doesnt match as per UDC posts ,not sure what to do ,do i remove the pins and put in correct order or does some1 maybe know why mine is this way? I have a 1.8 carb block that im fitting a 1.8i mp9 head ,my box is decoded so i need to run this harness to all the correct places but not sure where the pins go

Re: Help rewiring a mp9 Short harness (diagrams)
Wait hold on that ecu plug has 3 rows, mp9 ecu only has 2 rows.
Does the ecu itself have 3 rows of pins, if so I suspect you have a mpi ecu and harness plug.
No sure on the mpi wiring honestly, its similar to mp9 but with differences and has a lamda etc etc, not even sure anyone on here has converted to mpi

Re: Help rewiring a mp9 Short harness (diagrams)
Okay so here is my new plan
Dicktator runs my complete mpi head with map sensor and injectors ,3pin coil ,mpi distributor ,golf 3 gti tank with pump and bypass all other sensors
Will this work? Or am I missing something?

It will work, you just need to trace the wires, I did a plug and play conversion on a MP9 with my Velo.Aveezy wrote:Okay so here is my new plan

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
Sup guys ,quick question ,finding out that I have a mpi harness ,is the computer box still the same? If I were to get a mp9 harness and decode my computer box ,will it work? Or will I have to change harness and computer box

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
Basically for mp9 you need the below
mp9 ecu which needs to be decoded and remapped to engine cc
mp9 wiring harness
Throttle body, map sensor,
4pin water temp sensor,
knock sensor,
fuel rail with injectors and fpr,
3 pin coil,
4 window distributor without vacuum advance,
3 bar fuel pump
mp9 ecu which needs to be decoded and remapped to engine cc

4pin water temp sensor,
knock sensor,
fuel rail with injectors and fpr,
3 pin coil,

Okay but I have a 1800 carb block ,I know my head has a map sensor ,injectors all connected to a fuel rail harness ,I do have a distributor ,3 pin coil ,golf 3 gti tank with pump and throttle but as for
Fpr
Knock sensor
4pin water temp switch
Will this work on my carb block?

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
fpr = fuel pressure regulator, fits at the end of the fuel rail, silver round gadget with a vacuum pipe stem
knock sensor bolts unto the block
4 pin water temp fits onto a plastic water flange which bolts onto the head, the flange is available at most spare shops
yes it will work on the carb block.

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
@aristo92 . Sorry man only seen your Message now . Its costing me +-R5000 but im doing everything myself . Got some quotes from guys who will do the whole conversion for around R12000 . The most difficult things to get for this conversion is a decent snake /short harness . Hope this helps

Hi there
Would you mind sharing the pinout for the SHurlock MPI? I need to also convert from MPi to Mp9.
Thanks

He doesn't know the pin out for the harness. That info is unobtanium unless you have a connection at the dealers.al-qaasim wrote:Hi there

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
@ al-qaasim from what i managed to learn this pass few months is that you have to either change the whole engine harness from mpi to mp9 or change the ecu plugs from mpi to the 32pin mp9 plug .I have a guy who can wire the plug for you if your interested and he can source you with either the snake harness or plug and i have a decoded mp9 computer box if you ever looking for 1.

Re: Mp9 vs Mpi wiring (diagrams)
Guys I need help I just changed my 1.4 1400 mpi engine to 1.8i mp9 engine.. The engine starts but has rough idling so I'm planning on converting it to mp9... Now that's where the problem is, I don't know how to change the ecu plugs and matching the wires
