Hi !
I am looking for a new head unit for 2006 MK 5 Golf.
Needs to have a volume knob at least, be reliable, and not be crazy expensive.
I saw this: https://www.bobshop.co.za/vw-oem-double ... 58QAvD_BwE
But not sure if it would be compatible without Canbus modifications? Can someone elaborate? Otherwise open to recommendations! Thanks
New Mk5 2006 Golf head unit recommendations?

Re: New Mk5 2006 Golf head unit recommendations?
I can't recall at what point the mk5 got the newer canbus module versions, it think it was only the very last of the last year models so I'd say you'd more than likely need to change the canbus module or do the fuse box mod. The fuse box mod is far easier but from what I recall, the radio loses all saved settings when you turn the car off. I've read you can get gateway emulators that fix the issue, but don't know anyone who has tried them (https://oemcarradios.co.za/product/rcd3 ... ssat-polo/)
