Stroker build idea
Hi there everyone. New to the mk1 life, but I had a smooth brain moment.. I have a AGY, is it possible for me to stroke it up to essentially AFX and maybe just maybe pop a small turbo on it? If this is at all possible could someone please assist me. I've been hearing the term gatsby engine thrown around but I need some assistance

"Maybe pop a small turbo on it" is not as easy or as cheap as you think.
The amount of money you will spend doing it properly will be a hell of a lot more expensive than buying and fitting a 2.0 8V motor.
AGY is a 1.4 and AFX is a 1.6.
I don't know if swopping in a 1.6 crank, etc will be possible.
One of the more knowledgable people will probably comment in that.

Re: Stroker build idea
Might as well swap in a factory turbo engine instead of going through rebuild headaches. Ex: 1.8t 20vt
DRD keeps mounting kits. So simple now days

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on

I was wanting to avoid that and essentially do it all myself

Re: Stroker build idea
Apparently it's the same crank so I'm wasting my time there. I'll have to rebore unfortunately unless there's a savante here that can help me lengthen my stroke with minimal engineeringJetta2 wrote:"Maybe pop a small turbo on it" is not as easy or as cheap as you think.
