Crank with no start

Post by K@T »

My Polo Vivo 2013 1.4 CLP engine when I start it is cranking but not starting..fuel pump doesn't make any noise when it's on, coils are sparking, plugs are dark black on the pins and it started by not having power, it was picking up slow on gear 1 to 3 with EPC sign popping now and then and some knocking sound from the engine, making sound of misfire aswell so decided to park it following day it was just cranking with no start

Maybe you should start with VCDS scan for error codes. Hope you get sorted

Scan for error codes, save them, clear them, try to start and read them again. In addition, check for the three basics needed for combustion, fuel, spark and correct timing.

I would try to turn the engine, at least one full revolution, to check if there's no timing related issues. Also check that cams are turning. If all checks out, do a compression test

I agree with the diagnoses first - scan for codes. Crank no start could br a crank or cam position sensor also as a faulty sensor would report an incorrect reading which in turn would cause the ecu to prevent a start as a protection measure.
