Jetta 4 1.9tdi AHF conversion to ASZ question

Post by StefT »

Hi guys

I have a jetta 4 1.9tdi, the motor went. So i need to replace the engine. It currently has a AHF engine in thinking of replacing it with an ASZ.

My question is, what are the complications of doing the swap? And the ecu, engine mounts etc?

Thank you

For starters, the ASZ has unit injectors, while the AHF has mechanical injectors fed by the VE pump. So, the ASZ will definitely need its own ECU, and I wouldn't be surprised if you need to change the engine wiring harness as well.
Possible other differences, about which I'm not sure, might include
Engine mounts
Air flow metering
Air ducting
Boost regulation hardware (control valves etc.)
Fuel lines
Etc.?

Thanks for the reply. Think I’m gonna stick to the ahf motor. :)

The AHF is extremely robust.
Out of interest, how/why did yours go?

Two of the most important would be an edc15P ECU (decoded) with the engine harness, intank fuel pump - this will need to be wired via a relay.
No idea what the ahf n75 is like, but on an asz polo or seat it's not wired with the engine harness.

Mountings + clutch should be a direct bolt on.
Boost pipes should also work out. Air intake and brake vac pipe might change abit.

I know a guy that did the swap some time back. I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving u some info, u should be able to find him on Google/Fb - RA Performance in Durban.

Bro, why go ASV. Do you want more power?
There's plenty of power to be had from an AHF.
I take it you broke a belt and you the head needs to be be redone.?
For a lil bit of moola you can fix the head, put injectors go race pipe and put a pd manifold, load software...and it will make 120kw...plenty to put a smile.on your face ...this is my personal setup...so before you think I'm talking kak...come take a ride with me and then decide if you still want the Polo motor
