MK6 GTI Crank Vs Mk7 GTi Crank

Post by Herschel »

Does anyone know if the Mk7 GTi CHH crank is the same specs as the Mk6 GTI CCZ crank?
I know the cranks look identical & both motors are the EA888 gen. Just need to know if the journal sizes are the same.

The KS part numbers for the rod and main bearings are the same for the MK6 GTi and MK7 GTi, so the crank journals will be the same size.

Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears.

Thanks for that info, but I wonder why no website lists the Mk7 crank as compatible with the Mk6.
It might just be because VW lists it as a different part number. 🤔

So, I can confirm, that the MK6 GTI & the MK7 GTI cranks are different.
They both however use the same big end bearings, but where it differs is on the main bearings.

Below info was taken from the King Bearings website.

MK6 GTI bearings
Big end bearings - P/N: C4637U-SV or C4637L-SM
Main bearings - P/N: M5778U-SM 0r M5778L-SM

Mk7 GTI bearings
Big end bearings - P/N: C4637U-SV or C4637L-SM
Main bearings - P/N: M5779U-SM or M5779L-SM
