ECU fault

Good evening kindly assist me my Golf MK3 1,6 GS doesn’t start but only cranks the last time it did this the auto electrician fixed it and said it’s a computer box now 6 months later it does the same thing could it be the computer box do I need to get a new one or get the old one fixed
