I think the limited addition came with the options of driver airbag and a.c. as a standard in the package. I could be wrong. But a friend of mine had one I think he paid 115k when it came out lol with all of the above

The only really special edition was the R with the 1.8 and 272 cam fitted.
The rest was the same old 1.6 with fancy stripes.

I couldn't agree less, it is purely down to South Africans believing they have some holy **** grail special limited exclusiv edition, that doesn't exist. The Karmann Edition Cabrio's come to mind...

I do recall seeing one before, looked like a normal citi but with a 1.8i badge. Wasn't aware it had the cam as well, inconspicuous little car!

I was actually saying the exact same thing the other day .

A buddy was like he saw a nice rox in pta for 65000. I was like nice but i wont do it.

The hipe is as said before the history and easy to maintain espect of the car, pluss its a young person car that can be done up easily and made very nice.

Its popular and demand and supply dictate the high prices people get for them . Yes there are special additions but people go hey wire. A guy said a velo is getting scares now and there is alot of demand for a velo and i said a rox is a velo but with different badge so no its not getting scares, lol.

I agree a original Mk1 . Mk1 2 door a 1.8iRline and the MK1 new addition can fetch good money but the rest is just a golf,lol.

I never new the 1.8i R had a cam, but i believe the hipe came from the history of a CTI. The cti was fast so people associate the R with a CTI.

There are many better cars at 45K plus you can buy than a Citi golf So I too wont pay more than 30k for 1

Cheers
