What octane are you looking at getting to?

I have used it, and cant say it made much of a diffrence, even on the higher octane fuel setting. I raced a 1.6 corsa, with nitrous and avgas, and i saw tailights till 4 th gear, bitt imbarresed to say.

thats an interesting article....thanks for sharing

many years ago as a "gopher" at the local flying school, my duties were to get a daily fuel sample from the underground tanks, as evidence of the fuel quality, in case an inspection was required after an aircraft accident, but on opening the next day, I would throw this "for free fuel" into my motorbike's tank.....and apart from heat seizure problems, at full throttle, found no real advantage.

Most aero engines are starting in the 3,2 litre (approx 100hp) range all the way to 5,8litre (approx 350hp) and all produce maximum power at max revs of 2550 to 2750 RPM, any higher revs will cause the propeller blades going thru the speed of sound.

Many years of flight instruction on these "light" aircraft, I can vouch for fouling from the unburnt lead deposits, it basically looks like someone melted pure soldering iron lead and allowed it to flow into the the spark plugs, and the only way to "TRY" to prevent this is to aggressively lean the mixture, especially during low RPM ground operation like taxiing out for take-off.

back in the early 80's many racing types would come to the airfield to get some Avgas for their racing vehicles, back in those days it was possible to get 130 grade, but since those days fuel companies have been bringing down the octane levels due to environmental issues, and this has had a few issues of fatal aircraft accidents especially the more highly strung/high power bigger engines.

No modern vw TFSI or TSI motor would be able to run any form of leaded fuel, you'd mess up sparkplugs, injectors, fuel pump and most sensors. If you wanna play with fuel and stuff just add nf ultra to 40L 95 and it should be enough. If you're running stage3 or a GT3071 then 98 and nf would be ok but onm k03/ihi you're pretty much wasting money.
