Golf 7 TSI oil consumption

Post by aomar296 »

i have a 2013 golf 7 1.4 tsi and it is now beginning to use up oil. In the past i never had to top up oil between services but now after doing 5000km after the 105000km service i had to top up and now again 2500km later. VW says it's normal. Is it really normal as it never did this before?

No nothing of that sort

No issues with the car

Does anyone else have this issue? Is it really an issue?

Known issue, you are out of warranty. There is another thread here, yours is only starting to sip oil now but a new motor is 90K.

VW only takes note when its doing more than a liter of oil per 1000km. Good luck with VW.

Not sure if it's a known issue. Mine it's a 2013 model highline. Now on 150k and still put oil when servicing the car

Guys need your advice,

I've got the MasterCar warranty underwritten by Traffic on this car and it is expiring soon. Should I go the long route and investigate this issue and get it repaired under warranty or just keep topping up when necessary?

The thing is VW is quoting me for the strip and quote and can't guarantee that the repair will be covered or not.

I don't want to land up in a situation where i have my car sitting in the workshop for months and me sitting with a hefty bill to pay,

Please advise

Thanks

Nobody can tell you what to do. You have to make the decision yourself. Phone your warranty and speak to them and ask some questions. They will also tell you if they are aware of these problems and if they have paid out on them.
All the guys that I know that claimed these against warranty had to pay in some R20k of the 70-90k that VW charges.

I've just bought a 2013 golf 7 TSi Comfortline, I've filled up 4 times in the month and had to put in oil twice (which was twice more than I had in 12years driving my 2006 1.6i velociti.) I was at TWT having a tracker installed when I was shown my car was leaking oil and had been for some time. I immediately took the car to the dealership and showed them all the photos as well as all the slips for oil. It's their responsibility to fix the problem an d I'm not afraid to use my lawyers to ensure the problem is fixed at their expense. Its now been 3 weeks since i dropped my car off to be fixed but got a brand new 2017 Jetta to use while i wait for parts, so i can't complain
