Vw caddy door micro switch test, central locking not locking

Post by Armand »

Hi, we have a problem with one of our caddy"s door switches, it doesn't close causing the central locking not locking the car cause it thinks the door4 is still open, can someone maybe advise me which wires I must test in the door connector to locate the faulty micro switch, otherwise I am going to have to remove all the doorcards.
Thanks in advance

It could most likely be the sensor wire in the door rubber that has been broken. It senses when there is some obstruction in between the door and door frame. Check at the bending corners and where the cable go into the rubber.

If you have it scanned for errors, it should tell you which sensor is not healthy.

Our Caddy (1.9 Life TDi) has the same issue, but intermittent. It's on the right rear passenger sliding door. Every time you go over 20km/h you hear a click sound from the door, but it doesn't lock the door and you have to then lock it manually.

PapaJo - I am curious, Would this sensor wire be in the door frame rubber and if so where does it enter the rubber seal? Perhaps where that three pronged pin enters the vehicle body on the B pillar at the front of the sliding door?

So it doesnt show you which door it is? Not even on the Screen or doesnt it have that aswell?
I would suggest you get a guy with VCDS, thats the only way to trace the correct door.
Only way to test it to take the door card of. Each door has its own module that controls that. So wires coming out of door wont normaly give you a clear indication.

Check this site for reference and locate the cables. There is other pages also indicating that there is a switch in the pillar.

Thanks for the link, I will certainly check it out.

I had the whole central locking door lock mechanism changed about a year ago as it stripped on the inside, so I presume my problem might not be the cable to the mechanism, but rather a dirty connection at the door or the actual door switch.

Thanks for your assistance.
