Anyone knows how much would it cost to update the maps on my 2014 G7?
Do I get this done by VW or can anyone with a VAGCOM do it?

smart phone + waze. Much better than spending money on that.

If only I could use Waze via AppConnect, I would find some use for AppConnect then and could leave my phone out of sight.

I've never had a car new enough to worry about apps on the car. Switch phone on - chcuk it in the cup holder. Nav taken care of.

I used VW's CarConnect for one, maybe two trips and then binned it as connecting via bluetooth is far better.
