VW Polo hitting 492 642km advice please
I need some advice please.
Polo 1.6 Comfortline 2005 has been boasting excellent reliability since bought new in 2005. Kilometers as of today is 492 642km. On its way to the half a million kilometers. The clutch however is now really on its last legs. Can you advice on a reliable clutch kit. Other problem is the heat guage shows that the car is running hotter than normal ecspecially in slow moving city traffic. Can you advice on what the reason might be. Thanks in advance.

Re: VW Polo hitting 492 642km advice please
1.6 is not a powerhouse so any of the usual brands will work (sachs/LUK/etc)
when was the last time you flushed and replaced the coolant? old dodgy coolant and a sticky thermostat could be the problem, especially if its gunked up the inside of the radiator as well.

It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

Have a good look t the entire cooling system. IE is the thermostat opening and are both the fans running. Often you find one fan dead - which puts strain on the rest of the system and the next thing a whole cascade of failures happen in succession - like the fan controller, a thermostat, housings that crack because of the extra heat etc.

Wow.
And here I am worried with my skedonk hitting 260 000 km soon. Suppose I can get another 100 000km out of it.

Yes 1 Eyed Monkey your car is still a youngster and Oettinger TDI your car is still an infant. So you can still cover many miles with both. Hold on to them.
