2009 Yaris sump gasket

Post by Rourke »

Hi guys

I ave a 2009 yaris sedan 1.3.

The sump is leaking where the gasket go's.

what i need to know is , is there a sump gasket on the market and where should i get 1 ?

i spoke to my spare shop and they say there is no gasket and silicone is my best bet.

I am sure that originally it would have come with a gasket so there must be?

Cheers

Toyota should have the gasket... if you want another brand like Elring or Vestor Reinz, you can check with Midas and ask them to order you one.

Usually toyotas don't have a sump gasket, they just use their own in house sealant called FIPG, which is the same as Hondabond

I can't find it but either a Toyota dealership should have what you need.

guys so toyota has confirmed this car does not use a sump gasket but the sealer.

I also went to a engine spares and according to the payen book it also confirms a gasket maker or sealer.(The payen book shows if it needs a gasket and the book shows silicone sealer) that book is detailed nicely.

So i dought that i will get any sump gasket for this car.

Thanks alot.

Loctite 5699 grey RTV sealant.

Can confirm that very few Toyota's from about 2000 MY on have a physical gasket. 99% use sealant.

That said don't blame the sump for your oil leak unless you have washed the engine and confirmed the source of oil. In my experience with Toyota engines it's very rare that the sump leaks unless it has been bumped or cracked. Oil leaks further up can make a big mess under the car. Check the dipstick o-ring while you are at it. Oh and install a new oil filter with the clean oil.

thanks missioner

Well i have taken the car to toyota for service and even they pointed out that the sump is leaking current quote to reseal R1700.00 from toyota.

It is very little oil very little i have since drove 5000kms and the dipstick indicates almost no oil loss even though you can see the oil dirt under the car by the sump. not on the ground .

I have started parking the car on conrete at home from 1st january so now i actually see some small oil spots on the concrete.

I still check and the oil is still full as indicated on the dipstick

I just think its beter i do it now before all oil runs out.

Also the rest of the engine is dry its just the sump (Engine has no oil leaks whatsoever not even the sweating marks. its all alluminium no dirt

thanks again guys

HI Guys

what is the correct grade oil that the 2009 1.3 2nz-fe motor uses?

I had it serviced at toyota so i dont know the grade.

i just need to top it up a little so 1 500ml should be enough.

thanks
