Mk3 cubbyhole light.

Post by theunis.visser »

Hi all.

The GTS project is coming along as time allows.

Current issue is cubbyhole light.

Firstly does anyone know how this works? As I found that the contact part of the light is broken off (read missing). Next how does the toggle part return when the cubby door is opened so as to let the light come on? Is there a spring or something?

I would appreciate any and all help with this.

First prize would be a fix but I would settle for a working as one hand one should someone have one to sell as well!ImageImageImageImage

I stand to be corrected but isn't there a little tab on the inside of the glove box rails to flick the switch on and off?
Something like this?

Yip. It is there. I had another look and it seems that there should be a spring that makes the tab so back to on position when you open the lid. The arm will then push it to off when you close the lid. I am busy making a spring and contact plate to see if I can salvage it else it is a hunting I will go to the breakers yard!

Looks like I got I waxed. Made a copper strip to replace the broken one and modified a spring I had to run the switch lever. So far it seems to be spot on (while testing with the mm). Will see how thing go on install tonite.ImageImage
