Screamer Pipe
How's guys,
Quick question wrt a screamer pipe, I have not seen anyone in rsa running a screamer pipe before?
I noticed it's a bigger thing in the US but then again in some or the vast majority of states claim it illegal due to the sound levels it generates at high boost levels.
I have heard if this setup being used mainly for drag purposes but research is extremely limited with regards to its benefits if any?
My question is: despite the sound emitted from this setup that in my opinion sounds ADDICTIVE, does this so called "screamer pipe" produce any performance increase at all?
I understand that the design is for a quicker release on excess exhaust fumes? But is there any real benefit for terms of performance?

Re: Screamer Pipe
I run a screamer pipe, as do many people I know that do BT builds. There is a performance increase IF your wastegate originally ran into your exhaust but your exhaust was too restrictive then switching to a screamer pipe would bring about some extra power.

Re: Screamer Pipe
No power gains. It's easier to build because you don't have to join back into the exhaust again which always cracks unless you have some flex pipe. It is only for external waste gates.
It is noisey becuase you literally open the exhaust straight into atmosphere bypassing the silencer.

Re: Screamer Pipe
I know of at least 5 cars in the VAG fold currently running BT's and screamer pipes.smitbrandon wrote:How's guys,

Some find the sound intoxicating, others not.
Like Panic said, it all depends on the setup.

Re: Screamer Pipe
Hate the damn things
Get into Boost and all you hear is a 38 or 44mm exhaust pipe shouting
Horrid
All BT builds I’ve done or been involved in are recirc back into exhaust
You spent thousands on a sweet sounding exhaust that you can’t hear under load? Neh fok that kak

Re: Screamer Pipe
A car running with an internal wastewater OEM setup, would it be a big project to do the conversion to the screamer pipe and external wastegate?panic-mechanic wrote:No power gains. Hi Ian and Stratt
@smitbrandon, It works fine for me, but I just read the thread and there are no pics of the screamer pipe setup.

Re: Screamer Pipe
I hate mine, I really do, I've been planning on routing it back into the exhaust once I get my stock 57mm exhaust and all 3 boxes and both resonators replaced with a 76mm setup. I mean sometimes I just need to overtake quickly and then suddenly... screamer.PoLonY wrote:Hate the damn things

Yeah it’s even worse on low Boost setups where the damn thing is open 24/7Pynoxim wrote:I hate mine, I really do, I've been planning on routing it back into the exhaust once I get my stock 57mm exhaust and all 3 boxes and both resonators replaced with a 76mm setup.
