Whats the need for ceratech ?
Its an anti friction additive that forms a suspension layer on all the metal surfaces in the motor to add extra lubrication in friction areas... like vaseline for some hahaha, I put ceratech in my M coupe when i do every second oil service to aid with lubrication on cold starts, since i only use the car once in a while... you know M Cars love to eat rod bearings so this helps alot... Ceratech is expensive... like R400 for a 300ml tin

I put MOS2 in my Golf and my Wifes car... its like R90 a 300ml tin and is also an anti friction additive... Both liquimoly products you just throw it in with the oil when you doing the service.
Interesting. I won a tin of ceratech as a prize at an autocross event.

I personally don't buy in to the additives thing, would be interesting to see if it helps on the M coupe. Have you done bearings yet? What kms on the coupe?

Would be great to hear panic or any of the other guys in the knows thoughts on such additives.

I've done my rod bearings at 106K , and another 10K since then. On the US BMW forums, those guys have done the tests and Oil analysis before and after using it and the results showed improvement. lots of guys use it locally and MOS2 has been around for ages.

Panic, your opinion on these products that claim to clean carbon buildup from mixing it with your oil or fuel?

I'm very sceptical about so would have any advice that these things are true to their statements on the bottle?

I Don't do additives - what about that don't you understand.
There is only one thing that removes carbon of anything that it is burnt onto and that is mechanical agitation. Whether you use a brush with a cleaner or blasting it or whatever route you prefer. Adding anything into your fuel for instance in a fsi car will help you jack squat as fuel never get there.
Inside a motor if there is burnt on carbon I can't see any kind of additive making it go away.

I've used Liqui molly toptech (silver bottle), ceratech (purple bottle) and I'm currently trying shell.

My car tends to use a bit of oil. I've done about 4k km on the shell now and already needed to top it up once. The car uses less Liqui molly oil. The ceratech worked better for me than the toptech.

In terms of price, there isn't a massive difference between the 3 of them.

Hey balla,
Race tech is purple bottle... Ceratech is an anti friction additive and not engine oil...

I am also happy with Shell oil, no issues at all.
