Are Achilles tyres any good?
Hey everyone,
I have 225/35R19 tyres on my G7GTI.
My rear tyres will probably need to be replaced in the next few months so i’m looking around, but i can’t find anything under R3k per tyre except Achilles, which are around R1.7k per tyre.
Are they any good?
Any other tyre recommendations that don’t cost over R3k?
Thanks in advance.

No.
For like 2k, you can fit Toyo Proxes.
Great bang for buck tyre.
For like 2.2 you can get GY Eagle F1 Assymm 3. Brilliant tyre.
For like 2.5 you can get Conti SC5/6, brilliant tyre.
For like 3k, you can get Michelin PS4, which is the ultimate.

I had a set of Achilles tyres with my previous set and they did not disappoint me. I was happy with them and i would put them again.

Got achilles on my e39. Don't too much mileage but they seem to perform decently imo. Price was great.

Re: Are Achilles tyres any good?
Unfortunately Achilles does not make a tyre to match the performance of your GTI. There are passenger tires and high performance tires - You will need to stick to high performance tires to keep it in line.
Yes physically it fits and drives but will not be able to corner/brake the same. In fact your 0 - 100 will be more and braking from 100 - 0 will take longer, aqua plane like crazy if you take a bend 140+ with a load
Achilles is good for your drive-train - it slips enough not to stress mechanical parts haha but seriosly it's good enough as long as you understand that you will be sacrifices performance and understand that you wont be able to crazy fast bends and heavy braking

Excellent in the wet. Good dry but not as good as the stock conti 5p+, but they lasted 15k km. The GY were R500 cheaper per tyre tho.

I called Fasfit 10 minutes ago, R2375 Conti Sport Contact 5.
Dunlop Zone R2400 GY Eagle Asymm 3
That is without any haggling.
You driving a semi performance car, fit a proper tyre.

You should be smart about what tyre you fit to your high performance vehicle. Achilles is ****.ruler_70 wrote:So just because I have R500k to spend on a car I shouldn't be smart with my money?amstel18 wrote:Spends 450k on gti, can't spend r3k on tyres...

I drive a Sportline and I had Achrappies then upgraded to Michellin PS3 and it was a decent upgrade. Also, it is a G7GTI...put some good rubber on it.
