Good Morning I need some advise. I have never owned a Golf in my life before and have just purchased a Golf 1.4 2000/2001 Model
That's about all I know of it.
The problem I have is that the wipers tend to start by themselves and as if you are trying to clean your windscreen just carrys on pumping all the water in the water bottle out through the windscreen nozzle. It seems as if this happens as soon as the car starts getting hot or the heat guage reaches about 3/4
I have not replaced the thermostat yet and I am not sure if this is a safety feature on the golf or if something is crazy wrong as it wont switch off until it decides to do so itself. I have started to think that it is linked to the radiator fan somehow.
Can anyone please tell me whats going on

Most likely the wiper switch on the steering column rather than anything else. There Is absolutley no interconnection between engine heat and the wipers.

Yes - vibration or just movement on it from says braking or uneven road can make it go nuts. It's the righthand stalk on the steering column.
you should be able to buy it complete from Goldwagen. The biggest job to replace it is getting the steering wheel off.
