Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Hi guys
My 2007 Polo's central locking has started acting up. When I lock the doors (or the auto lock at speed kicks in), all the doors lock (their pins drop) and then usually the same one or two pop back up immediately.
I then have to manually push those down that popped up and they stay that way until the next locking action.
Anyone have any similar experiences?

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Sup brotherman, love your car. Polo 9n3's are solid vehicles.
I never experienced this with mine but it could be software/code issue, maybe get it reset/re-flashed to oem settings.
Did you install the central locking or is it factory?

Hey bro - thanks man. She's got 270 000km on and goes like new, that motor is bullet proof (touch wood).
The car is stock all round. Nothing funny at all... as per the factory.

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Have the same issue on my side, I once saw something about the micro switch being faulty as mine only pops up once i pick up enough speed for the doors to lock the the left passenger pops up.
i have recently noticed my right passenger door seems to have some sort of dead lock where it wont open from outside or by me manually lifting the leaver to open the door from the inside

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Yeah deadlock is standard with these cars, you can leave your window open and lock the car via using the car keys. Even if someone reaches inside and tries to open from the inside, it still won't. Love it! Safety is pricelessWolfburger wrote:Have the same issue on my side, I once saw something about the micro switch being faulty as mine only pops up once i pick up enough speed for the doors to lock the the left passenger pops up.

That's strange if it's acting up being a standard from the factory. Take it to vw and let them check it out, they shouldn't charge you for itJustify wrote:Hey bro - thanks man. She's got 270 000km on and goes like new, that motor is bullet proof (touch wood).

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Guys, just take the cars to VW and get the cars fixed. VW will need the car for a morning and that's it.

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
That would be the logical choice yes, I was just wondering if it is a quick fix that someone knows of... and of course I must admit I'm perhaps biased in my opinion of VW as the dealer/stealers

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Perhaps do research into the possible outcomes and then narrow your solutions down to your experiences and execute from there? Could be sensor issue etc. If you could find out what the problem is perhaps you can just buy the part at goldwagen alike franchise and fix it yourself. Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Some auto electricians can supply and/or replace the microswitches. Alternatively, go to a scrap yard and buy the required door lock units, then strip out your fault units and replace.
Quickest and easiest (although not necessarily the cheapest) is to take the car to VW and let them sort it.

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
Good advice guys, thanks.
(PS> if all else fails I'll call VW for an appointment, just hate the feeling of knowing I'm getting ripped off. When I first got the Polo (out of warranty) I went to VW to buy a headlight bulb and asked them if I can change it myself... they said no, it requires specialised tools and had to book it in... then went around the corner to the local auto-electrician, he laughed and did it free of charge in 5min, by hand).

Re: Polo 9N3 central locking popping up issue
So to conclude the post:
VW and indie auto-electrician diagnosed it as faulty locks (a known 9n3 issue).
Estimated cost to fix (2x locks):
VW: R6000-R8000
Indie: R4500 - R6000
** Unrelated but interesting quote, VAG diagnostic - VW (R850), Indie (R550) **

I replaced the right back door lock on my Polo, part was R731.60 from VW with a 15% discount and the mech charged R450 for his labour.
