2004 Citi 1.4carb to 1.8i

Sup Everyone, I'm new here

So I have a 2004 citi 1.4 carb new spec with 200000 on the clock...tired of carburetors and the endless problems so I decided to go fuel injection... Sent my car to a mechanic, he got a 1.8i engine complete with intake manifold, throttle body, etc.. He sent my block to the engineers to overhaul and rebore to fit the pistons from the 1.8... He's done plenty of conversions in the past with excellent results.. So here's where I need some advice, I don't have enough cash to get the fuel tank for fuel injection, so he said he can put the pump in my carb tank.. He bought a brand new bosch fuel pump to do so... What problems can occur with this development?

Expect surging issues when fuel level is low

So I would need the tank to stay above quarter at any given time to avoid this

most likely yes but also depends on the pump used and how its mounted in the tank etc
