Quick question, about 8v and 16v

Post by Davin_L »

Okay so I need to rebuild my engine, I have a 1.8l 8v now my question is, would a 16v head fit my stock block? And if so what head would fit and is it worth it performance wise? My engine code is HV

Younwere pleading budget and trying to half do the repair. Now you want to do a very much more expensive thing as you have to get A LOT of stuff to make 16v work there. Also HV does not have a block breather so always issues with breathing. You do get an extension that fits on the oil cap hole to do that but theynstill tend to breathe quite a bit with that setup.
So unless you have everything to make a 16v setup work you are probably in for around 15-20k before it is done.
Pistons
Head
Timing belt
Timing pulleys all 3
Intermediate shaft
Oil pump and blockoff with gear or you have to leave a dissy in place in the block with no cap or modify one.
Different alternator and bracket
Crank pulleys
If on k-jet different injectors and pipes plus idle valve setup with it's electronic control box
On aftermarket you will have to get a fuel rail made up.
